Carlos ran after Lidia, but Francisco had the bravery to wait for her, even if it was hard for him. Francisco sacrificed his own life for Lidia’s daughter, while Carlos, the girl’s real father gave up and was even envolved in her disappearance... Huge difference of Love.

When they « broke up » in season 2 they didn’t really choose it, they were still in love, in think that she never stopped loving Francisco. She was in love with Carlos too, but even when she was with Carlos she never stopped loving Francisco. They helped each other as friends in the season 3 but they were still in love in didn’t feel like their story was ended. In season 4 she CLEARLY admits and doesn’t deny to Carlos that she is still in love with Francisco.

I am glad that they are endgame. She is dead but at least they were married, their love is infinite ♾, they will continue to love each other through the death.
I am still trying to comfort myself about the end, thinking about the 7 years they spent together, happy, in New York City, between the season four and five.
