I don't buy any of their apologies anymore. Come back here in 6-12 months when we get the next ''We are truly sorry'' statement.
I hope I am wrong : )

This is a total corporate speak non apology. What we have learned is: ads ARE coming, higher prices and tiered membership IS coming

This happens every couple months. I'm patiently awaiting the final nail in the coffin.

"What we learned" made me have: "How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man?" go off in my head.

Private equity ruins everything. Some suits are going to tell Jagex to make more money, and everyone suffers. The players, the devs, basically everyone except the suits at the top and the shareholders.

No smoke without fire, they were seriously considering implementing this and only relented after incredible amounts of backlash. Very disappointing

You know, if RuneScape was a player-owned game, Instead of dealing with all this corporate nonsense, I would invest. Just food for thought.

Jagex is told “make more money” and they just do it in the worst possible way

Jagex has a 50% profit margin. Meaning 50% of their revenue is pure profit. Most profitable companies are happy with a 10% profit margin. This is pure corporate greed at it's finest. DO NOT let up the pressure. Jagex deserves every bit of what they're getting.

F2P Ads and 100% quitting. They forget the player base is 25 -40 yrs old it's not like their bringing in young players lets face it this is pure love and loyalty and they mess that up we leave they can close shop. NO ADS IN OSRS PERIOD! regardless F2P or P2P the F2P community is strong and would leave for sure. CEO should be fired for this.

I’d honestly pay triple the price for membership if they gave me a setting to turn off all players cosmetics/overrides. Let me turn off all cosmetics, auras and followers. I’m so sick of seeing all that gaudy ass flashy BS cosmetics all over my screen I purposely have to go to low pop words so I don’t see the shit as often. I’d pay triple for that setting!

Jagex has long since burned their goodwill. rebuilding trust will be a long road if they ever manage it. I don't exactly get warm fuzzies from their 'apology'.

Trust is earned when actions meet words. When trust is broken it is like a cracked mirror, the mirror is useable but people can't ignore the lines in the glass.

They will sneak these changes in (as integrity changes), or raise membership prices again.😂

They are really just trying to test boundaries to see what they could get away with it seems like

My favourite part is how they posted an "apology" to us assuring us they deeply valued the OSRS community before they changed that to RS.

It's actually hilarious that Jagex tried to copy Netflix's subscription service model. I honestly don't believe they have a clue what they are doing anymore. They just copy other games/ services models and think it'll work with Runescape. Remember how they thought coping WoW's gameplay was a good idea because of WoW's popularity with EoC... yeah, that went well 😂

Called it. This is their "We hear you, we will do better" PR response.

That survey had no other purpose than to find out how much additional money they could get from the player base by introducing several different ways to make now free services payable in the future, or to simply rise subscription fees in different ways and by different amounts. Also it was a test how the player base will react on possible in game or around the game advertising.
They knew very well in advance, that their "suggestions" will not be accepted, they only wanted to know how much damage an announcement to implement would cause. It now looks like they saw that these actually might threaten the existence of the game, what they probably did not expect on such scale. So they now retreat and hope that everything will be forgotten in a couple of months until they will try it again in autumn or next winter: they even said so in that CEO's statement.
Jagex has been sold to an investment company. It's main and first priority goal is no longer to provide a good game which attracts many gamers, but to create profits for their investors. Thus, such attempts will not end, they will try to get more money form us the one or other way continuously as long the game - a.k.a. that business model - does exist.
