Mr. Blue Sky will always remain as my favorite ELO song.

Turns out the line isn't even "Bruce" but rather a vocal ad-lib made by Jeff Lynne saying "groose.” Lynne said he only kept the "groose" in after his German engineer asked him "how did you know that word? Gruss. It means 'greetings' in German."

Jeff Lynne is one of the greats who was part of the Travelling Wilburies.

I loved ELO in the late 70's and early 80's.

"Mr. Blue Sky" gets a lot of buzz for production values, but one can't ignore the soaring ambition of "Turn to Stone".😉

10 years ago, I got into an argument. A screaming match even, with my very best friend. I was convinced that this song was by the Beatles. My friend was convinced that it was Harry Nilson. We both were wrong. We don't mention this song anymore. For our friendship. 😂

This is actually my favorite ELO song! All their songs are great, but this one stand out to me. 😊

ELO was mostly responsible for the soundtrack to the movie "Xanadu" with Olivia Newton-John. "All over the World" is a great song of theirs to listen to...

Sung by, produced by and written by Jeff Lynne. Great 👍 He is the constant member of ELO. Many hit songs 🎵.

Lynne produced/ produces and/or writes/wrote with the late Tom Petty and others. Jeff Lynne was a member of The Traveling Wilburys .

Suggested videos 📹: 1 Tom Petty sings I Won't Back Down 2 ELO performs Evil Woman live 3 The Traveling Wilburys perform Handle with Care.

I saw them but once. It was in Pax AZ and it was a theater in the round. Not a bog place. Maybe sea 2000. Yes the stage revolved. It was 73.

You can't go wrong with Jeff Lynne and ELO. "Turn to Stone" is my favorite of theirs. They probably have the most songs that can get stuck in your head, including "Can't Get You Out of My Head".

This song was popular on the radio back when I was in high school, late 70’s/early 80’s. Long before the internet. Could never quite make out “groos”, and me and my friends thought they were singing “Bruce”, with a strange reference to Springsteen, who was very popular at the time. First time I was able to actually look up the lyric I remember laughing hysterically at first, and then thinking “WTF is a GROOS?”

Thank you for your reaction today. Another great ELO song you may want to react to is All Over the World.
