The "live" performance of Turn Me Loose was on the Dick Clark Saturday night show from New York. It was sponsored by Beechnut Spearmint Chewing Gum. The gum's commercial hook was "It's Flavorific" thus the IFIC pins on all of the kids in the audience. At the beginning I put the word LIVE in quotes because Dick Clark NEVER allowed singers to perform live on TV whether it be this show or the daily Bandstand show. They always lip synced to the actual record.

Why they went into the movies ??? Singers like Elvis, Fabian, James Darren, Frankie Avalon etc. already had a BIG following (especially girls). Movie producers knew that having a "teenage idol" in the movie would draw those fans and help to make the movie successful.

Fabian was a carbon copy of Elvis but never had Elvis' charisma nor following. Fabian is more like Ricky Nelson more than Elvis. That's another reason that Elvis was called 'the King of Rock And Roll'. He influence pop culture that changed the world.

I think some songs only became big hits because of the hype associated with the artist at the time .. They don't stand the test of time once that hype has become a thing of the past .. This sounds like one of those songs to me .. There's really very little to it that's musically interesting or memorable .. Sorry Fabian .. I know he's your namesake, but I call 'em as I see 'em ..
