How I Plan to Record My Brain Waves (EEG) 🧠⚡️

My name is Jared Beckwith, I’m a registered EEG technologist. At my job I record patient brain activity using electrodes that go on top of the scalp. The test is called an electroencephalograph or EEG. I have always wanted my own EEG machine to record my brain, and in this video I talk about my plan to make my own diy eeg machine.

If your father is an electrical engineer he should have an oscilloscope. When you get your EEG running I would be curious if you could probe the same area with the scope and compare data collected. If its about the same it might be feasible to buy a few two channel scope pcbs from overseas to make a cheap EEG. Otherwise cool video man.

I’ve been thinking of a science fair project for my school. I saw a person play Elden Ring by using an EEG headset to interact with the world. This was awesome looking at and I want to do something similar. However, EEG aren’t cheap and if I could make one myself.

I was wondering if you could show how to make one from scratch haha.
It would help me get a head start on what I begin with and a timeline of what should be done.

hey, i wanted to know if eeg can detect the different signals sent to perform different actions. Particularly I wanted to know if it could recognize the change in focus of the eyes as in the signal sent by the brain to change focus of the eyes to focus at different distances. Mainly to be used with eye tracking technology

How to collect data with this setup ? How to you export it to process in MATLAB?

So you have an idea of how many watts those analog signals are? I also realize how small they are but is there a typical voltage/ampere for people? Also, when collecting these analog signals with the hospital equipment im assuming there is a ground or negative for the signsl to flow or are there two electrodes per section. One recieving the signal, open gate/collector pin, and then out the second electrode back into the head? I guess just smaking a small loop to drive a small opamp is how in picturing it. If im completely off and someone has the time to explain it I would be grateful. Ive just started scratching the surface on this topic but its interesting.

What’s the limiting factor in taking this EEG project from 4 channels to 256 channels (i.e. dense array EEG for deep learning research)?

Do you have a room with a Faraday cage on it? It's kinda necessary for precise eeg data
