Which countries have the most tariffs?

This graphic shows which economies have the most harmful tariffs. These are taxes on goods imported from other nations.

A country may put tariffs in place to protect domestic industries from foreign competition.

On one end of the scale, we can see that Hong Kong is the only economy on this list with no tariffs due to its free trade policy.

That differs massively from the US, which has nearly 5000.

While the trade war between China and the US has contributed to this, China still has far fewer tariffs than the USA.

Over time, these policies can harm economic growth and contribute to inflation, as consumers don't have access to cheap imports from other countries.
