Norway Chess is a 6-player double round-robin featuring World Champion Magnus Carlsen and taking place in the Clarion Hotel Energy in Stavanger, Norway from 7-17 September. Each of the 10 rounds consists of a classical game where a win is worth 3 paoints and a loss 0. If the players draw they play an Armageddon game, where the winner earns 1.5 points and the loser 1 point. No draw offers are allowed before move 30.

I saw the “A” on the robot and spent the whole game amazed that Magnus was so confident in the endgame that he traded everything down to bishop v bishop even though it’s armageddon and he needs to win, only to find out at the end that it’s classical 😂😂😂 Still an amazing endgame.

This is less of an actual game and more of an endgame study from Magnus - showing how to win with literally only bishops of the same color and the importance of fixing your opponent's pawns on the same color as your bishop lol.

Was watching it live and Alireza had like 10 min and Magnus 1hr left when it was only bishop and 3 pawns each. Everyone in chat was saying its a draw, including me. I go do some things and come back to realize Magnus won. What an end game!
