Chasing the Impossible Tanker Surfing Score

Tanker surfing in Philadelphia has never been an easy egg for us to crack. Even tho we get to lament over the awesome waves that the Surfin Moose got to catch a few years ago, we never really got Will on the wave we thought we would. It doesn't matter tho, because we're not giving up for the dream!

Ben, great stuff here seeing you and the boys at a special spot known to me as Unicorns- next to Mermaids. It’s a strange and goofy place that requires a lot of patience and luck but if you catch the right moment it can be life changing. Also, appreciate that you’re always careful not to reveal a spot- in this case it could spook the residents. Yeah man I was in the Coast guard in the Northeast. Philly, New Jersey and Baltimore. Y'all have no idea how much water those ships are pushing under the surface. Come on Ben go to that Tarnikan River in Alaska, make it a contest see if you ride that way farther than Jamie! Novelty!!

At the entrance to the Houston ship canal there is a very good wake wave that breaks on the Eastern side. I first observed this a first trip cadet in 1990. The water sucks off the sand bank and makes this hollow bowl for a about a quarter of a mile. I remember standing on deck watching it thinking somebody should be riding that.

You're at the mouth of it, the Delaware side. C&D canal. Chesapeake and Delaware, try transiting that canal full of ice, and passing one of those tankers. There is no room, it was nerve-racking when I was on the helm of the ship!
