Just over 15k miles in my 2023 Colorado ZR2 with no issues. Excellent on and off-road. I extensively researched all the competition and no regret going with the Colorado.

I'm digging the Ranger even more now!

You’ve got a great sense of humor, Tim. The Ridgeline came out in 06 and mine is still running fine. I did pick up truck things with it and And particularly loved the in bed trunk took it all over the country and had very few minor issues. I’m sure my son-in-law will keep it until the wheels fall off as I gave it to him a few years back.

Been driving my 2024 Ranger Lariat FX4 in Azure Gray since early May and can report zero problems. Love it.

I've had Mazda, Ford, GM, RAM, and Honda pickups.
All different sizes. Two were Ridgelines, an 06 and my current 21 RTLE. Love it. It's not perfect, but it is super versatile. I tow a few thousand pounds with no problem. Roomy. Rides like a dream. Sometimes I think my 84 B2000 was the best of the bunch. I almost kept my 14 RAM 1500 Hemi regular cab, shorted. But it developed the infamous hemi tick even though it was meticulously maintained. Didn't trust the motor so I sold it.

I owned a 2023 Nissan Armada and the screen kept going dead on it too, bad thing is that’s your cameras and safety features too. It finally died and they replaced a $2500 module, week later it started acting up again. We traded that off for a Suburban. I’ll never own a Nissan again.

If you don't need to do truck things Ridgeline is it. Makes sense ranger is the best of the midsized.

Back in 22, I looked @ the Colorado, tried to look @ the Ranger (dealer treated me like a homeless illegal alien). Driving a 22 Ram, full size, short box. Checks all the boxes for me...fits in the garage, easy to drive / park in the city & my dog loves it.
Cheers,

Makes sense... most American made truck assembled by American labor with highest amount of American made parts ends up most reliable. 🤷‍♂️

Funny enough, my brother who owns a detail business said Titans tend to have a lot more paint chipping compared to other trucks. Doesn’t surprise me if the Frontier chips easily too. As an F150 owner, I have no complaints about Ford paint quality. Infotainment sucks, but Ford did good with the paint.

TIM, you mentioned the Honda Ridgeline voice recognition software. My 2020 CRV has that issue as well. My 2017 Hyundai Elantra recognition software was WAY BETTER.

I have the 24 Ranger and have issues with the infotainment system.. the wireless carplay does work half the time the trailer screen pops up with no trailer attached and the automatic updates will not stay on and it just doesn’t seem to perform as well as my 21 did

Hi Tim. With all vehicles getting led head lights that do not melt snow, is that not a huge issue. I live in Michigan, and the 194 corridor during snow storms has constant issues now. When driving on the highway, you can not stop and clean your lights. Is it if they start having a heated lens, they admit to an issue. I asked a GM engineer, and i got a shoulder shrug.

I have a 2022 Ridgeline Black Edition. Great truck. And the Ford Maverick is a great compact truck.
I like the new Ranger Raptor. Maybe in the future I will try a Ford. Never have.

Frontier issues. I have no idea what consumers reports is talking about. I’ve had zero problems with the entertainment system and no rattles. I was amazed in fact at how solid the truck is? Brings to mind perhaps this is a political rating because it does not make sense.

Next time I need a microwave oven I think I'll research it at Car and Driver.

Walked out of the house this morning and all four windows were down on my truck. I’m sure I didn’t leave it with the windows down. As a matter of fact, I’ve only used the button that does that once when it was new. Glad it didn’t rain! Did an update cause this? The info tainment unit is buggy!

It would be inexcusable for a car company to not have a free-of-lag, easy to use, never freeze, infotainment 2014! The fact that cars still have garbage software 10 years later, really speaks volumes on the corner cutting all car companies do and how little they actually care about the consumer.

One more time for the people in the back. Consumer reports rankings are based on survey data, not editorials or reviews! It’s not about whether or not CR “loves” the Ridgeline. Is there an issue with how they collect the data or something else tangible?

michaellopour

Even though CR is survey driven, it doesn not mean that it is a comprehensive assessment. Reliability is difficult to assess and cant be fully realized off of just one component out of the literal hundreds that make up a vehicle. It takes time to properly aggregate data on all the componentry that can prematurely fail and the rate of failure across the vehicle population.

That being said this is just a survey based on ownership experience and not a case study conducted by professionals studying the reliability of these vehicles. Example, the Frontier is still a good truck, but like all of the vehicles on this list, it will have its share of problems. You as a potential buyer will need to use your discretion to identify which vehicle issues are tolerable for you as no truck or car out there will be problem free.
