I've been working so hard to apologize less. I grew up with the Canadian "sorry!" It's an expression of sympathy or commiseration, an acknowledgement of circumstances. It can even mean "I didn't hear you."

I found it being misinterpreted too often, even by other Canadian residents! Something is changing, culturally. They think there's something wrong with my self esteem.

My point is that if someone tells you that you say "sorry" too often but you aren't actually apologizing, you might have grown up in Canada. Don't worry. 😂

But ... What if my parents start to use silent treatment again? ..
I mean I don't remember my childhood a lot and I don't know if what I remember is true but silent treatment was one of my bad memories

I apologize a lot. I practically apologize at every possible chance. Even if there was nothing I could do or even if I wasn't even remotely at fault. I just don't know what else to do, I basically had to constantly apologize as a kid and it was never enough. After awhile I'd start getting punished for apologizing, and then I'd continue to do it. My parents always told me that if I never change anything then my apologies mean nothing. It's something I think about a lot.

And then one day you randomly bring it out to those ppl who made you feel you were in the way (in a very polite, not accusative way, with humour) and they immediately deny it and get offended. Guess who is apologizing again? 🤗
