Aaron kept saying that you needed capture cards for cameras & as he comes from a Black Magic & SDI background this makes sense.
But SDI is not the only solution NDI over Ethernet provides a far cheaper solution as video capture is unneeded albeit birdog bidirectional Hdmi to Ethernet can cost albeit it's Ethernet over any fabric including POE++ (90W power) injection, Comms, tally lights etc allowing you to upgrade any simple camcorder to fully Indexed PTZ & even 6DoF using robotic arms. Which can be amazing when combined with Unreal 4/5 virtual sets based either on cheap green screen all the way up to the Mini-LED caves used in the Mandalorian

I was just watching Tom Buck’s video about the ATEM mini, and he recommended Aaron Parecki’s video. Now he’s a guest on your show. 👍🏾 Hope to see you on DTNS soon!

Thanks Shannon, I watch Aaron's livestreams but it was really useful to get that 'how do I get started' viewpoint.

This was perfect timing. Although I think I'm way to late to start a channel, I've been thinking of creating a channel with one of my co workers but since we are distant because of world events, I wasn't sure the best way to do it to get us both on at the same time. Thank you for the great video, as usual.

This is a great collab! Great job to both of you!

Also, a common misconception is that normal computers do not have built-in hardware encoders. Most GPU’s, even the ones built into CPU’s, have built-in hardware encoders that aren’t bad.

Very informative!
Are you using a hardware interface for your microphone? Do you use any USB microphones?
Hair was spot on and very little lighting glare in you glasses.
So far you are the third YouTuber I have had the pleasure of learning new ways of lighting and techniques for getting proper diffusion.
I had the privelidge of taking a course in broadcast some 47 years ago in high school. We were the only school in the county if not most of the state which had a working TV studio as part of the curriculum. Cameras were black and white with a special effects generator/switcher and a Panasonic VHS reel to reel recorder (only piece of color gear). And the fun thing is they were HUGE AND POWER HUNGRY!
Lighting was old school halogen and huge. Thank goodness for technology.

👀 Not planning to live stream but I greatly enjoyed learning about the equipment and processes. I appreciate your video. Blessings on your day.

One thing that wasn't really touched on here, but probably should have been - if you are going to have guests, set up early - there will be technical difficulties, especially if your guest doesn't normally do live events. Having an extra 15-20 minutes before going live to sort through any problems will hopefully keep you from having to do so on-air. A test run a few days prior can also be a good idea, since it gives time to make changes to the setup, like changing microphones.

If you plan to do more on streaming production, would you be willing to cover Vtubers/Facerig and tools and resources for those who want to stream as a persona rather than as themselves?

Very interesting, I for example don't have the best self-confidence and a lot of stage fright. I don't think my voice is good either but I've wanted to do live streaming for a long time.

was this video edited down from a recording you did, and one he did, or did it all come from one source. if the latter, expound please, sound isn't usually that good when one side is remote. also, to agree with the mob, the hair rocks. thx

I thought you were going to talk about being a livestreamer on Twitch or YouTube, but this sounds a lot more for presenters like public speakers and teachers. 😅 But learned a lot of the tools that are available!

Just wondering if Arron does online training. We are a charity and have been forced to start looking at live streaming for training and capacity building workshops. Would really appreciate any advice and help. THANKS Gab.

I can be a moderator for you, at no charge ofc!! I have experience with moderating on YT and currently a moderator on another YT channel The Magic Minute with Alan Paoletti! He is friends with Brian Brushwood from Scam Nation formally known as Scam School!

Don’t use Streamyard. Restream is so much better!!! I used Streamyard for a week and switched. I can stream on 2 platforms with Restream, which Streamyard wouldn’t let me do. I chose to upgrade on Restream so I can stream to Facebook pages and groups, which was $5 cheaper per month than Streamyard. Plus even the free version has a lot better perks!
