Using a COVID-19 HOME TEST to Board Our Cruise! | Abbott BinaxNOW Full Process & Experience!

Hello Happy Travelers! Today we are trying something new and taking our required Covid-19 test at home! For our Royal Caribbean sailing on Oasis of the Seas, we need to take a Covid-19 rapid test ahead of time and show proof of negative test results at the terminal. A new option for testing that Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruise lines are now accepting is the Abbott BinaxNOW COVID-19 Home Test presented by E-Med. In order for this test result to be accepted by the cruise line, you must purchase the testing option that provides a medical professional proctor that will monitor and guide you testing via video call. The process was fairly simple, with only a minor hiccup. We definitely highly recommend this method, as rapid Covid-19 test are becoming more difficult to find availability for. Hi Happy Travelers! We mentioned this in the video but just wanted to touch on again that you must use the version of this at home test that includes the medical professional proctor in order for the cruise lines to except the results. There is an OTC option that will not be excepted. So you will need the RX version that includes the medical professional proctor. We hope this helps! Happy Travels! 🤗❤️🤗

UPDATE: We’ve had several people asking about the hours the proctors are available. We just did another of these tests today (both negative! 😁), and asked about the hours, and they told us it was available 24 hours a day.

This is a most informative video about how to perform this test on youtube that we have seen to this time. We have an upcoming cruise scheduled and this looks very easy and not too complicated. I feel better now after watching it so that I can have my results back in time (within the 2 day allotment timeframe) and present it at the ship's terminal. Many thanks!

Thank you for this. This video is the only one I’ve found showing the process. I tell my clients about using the test from emed and I’ve been using them myself but I’ve been using the non-proctored ones but since I have a cruise next month I had to get one of the proctored ones and was kinda nervous about the experience so this eased a lot of my anxiety. Excellent video! Thank you for doing the whole process and making it so clear exactly what occurs! We have ordered our tests via RCL page. We are planning to do local test at pharmacy but wanted a backup just in case plan B. As noted instant covid tests locally are getting harder and harder to find as more places require them for work etc. Thank you again, your video id indeed the gold standard for this. This makes it so much easier. Just FYI I believe that there are two versions of the test one says OTC which you cannot use for the cruise. You need the one that says rx or prescription in order to qualify

I've watched so many of these at home test videos and it just seems like such a pain. I haven't seen one video where the camera issue was anything less than chaotic. I hope my CVS test comes back in time because this just seems so ridiculous. Thank you for walking us through it.
