She was ordering them for the entire audience, way more than the 50 that Whoopi’s assistant bought and the business simply responded they couldn’t handle an order that large due to the boiler issue. I don’t think they were even able to buy 50 of them, it was more like 30.

Been reading/watching about this all day - so far what I've put together is that Whoopi/her people tried to put in an order a couple days early and the bakery told them they couldn't confidently take/make the order since their boiler was broken and either they couldn't make the order, or it wouldn't be up to the bakery's standards. Then before the birthday they got the repairs completed so they then communicated back that they could fulfill her order - and so they did as they were on the show. Apparently she assumed the boiler was just an excuse they tried to use to not make them.

it's a bakery in NYC chances are they don't care about peoples politics yeah staten island went red but they cant be that blind to the fact that NYC is usualy blue to begin with.

The version I have read is that the boiler was broken when Whoopi contacted them, but was repaired sooner than expected, allowing them to resume baking before the assistant arrived to buy what was available a day or so later.

The reason she was refused but still got them is because they said they weren't sure they could make her order. So instead of saying yes and then having to maybe later tell her they can't they held themselves to a higher standard and said no we can't reliably do a large order for you today.

She ordered a day ahead, and the boiler was down. They didn't want to give her a guarantee, that they were not sure of. The assistant got the order the morning of her birthday celebration. Sometimes people have their own problems that they are trying to deal with. You give people grace, test and observe other possibilities before drawing conclusions.
