Hello and welcome to Off The Shelf Board Game Reviews! This video is part of a series of videos for Apocrypha The Card Game, a deck building, dice rolling, adventure game for 1-6 players that plays in about 1-3 hours depending on player count.

"The Apocrypha Adventure Card Game is the next evolution of the gameplay from two games we helped create: The Pathfinder Adventure Card Game and Betrayal at House on the Hill. It can be run as a fully cooperative adventure card game solo or in a group, or a guide can take over and expand it into a full-blown roleplaying game. It’s designed by the team at Lone Shark Games, with card text by authors like Jerry Holkins, Kij Johnson, Kris Straub, and Patrick Rothfuss. Set on the precipice of a modern-day apocalypse, Apocrypha is an hour-long game that immerses 1 to 6 players in a conflict with the most dangerous entities in the universe. Players play “saints,” characters who can see the hidden monsters lurking in every alley and school lunch room. These characters grow through sessions of gameplay, unlocking repressed memory fragments that expand their powers and capabilities. Apocrypha is the game that will change the way you look at the world, and the way the world looks back at you.
The game comes in three boxes: The World base set and two expansions, The Flesh and The Devil."

Thank you! This is an amazing introduction and how-to for this game. I wish I would've had this, when I got the game a few years back! It took a LOT of time to get this game down. I love the game now. This is a great video!! Thank you for taking the time to walk through it.

Well, Legacy games being bad is subjective. I feel they could be designed smarter so they can be fully replayed, although this would mean a lot of work resetting everything. I honestly feel Legacy games are expensive throw away games that waste resources.

This is a great guide.
Small problem is I came from a link that shows this video as "the story of the game" which lead me to think this was going to be about the making of the game, and/or the game's lore. So this isn't what I expected the video to be and was less useful to me in this way.

I just bought this game because it seemed up my alley, we have similar tastes in horror games, and I trust your opinion.

I'm trying to setup the first mission Taking the Plunge. I dont understand the numbers next to the Minions listed. It lists Minion A: Helpless Child/Snow Angel (1-2) then Minion B: Helpless Bystander (13-16). I don't understand these numbers at all. Why is the Bystander Minions starting at card 13? Why not card #3 since it is available and next after card #2 which is used for Minion A? I'm playing with 4 Saints, you could just please tell me what cards to put in each Nexus of the master and minion cards? If it's what I think it is from the setup instructions under the mission info then I'm puzzled as to how it scales per number of players, especially since their are no more Nexuses added for more players.
Can I use Ruby Doomsday at any time or just for Skinwalker missions?
Do you have The Book of Hybrids small expansion? Looking at the Snakenado mission that is free on their site it appears to have cards at the end of the pdf that you need, but are not available. Do you print them out? Are they in The Book of Hybrids small expansion? Forgive me if this is content you haven't looked at.
How would you rate your liking of this game comparable to other games? Better than Elder Sign, ATOE, Arkham Horror, Eldritch Horror, etc.?
Sorry for all the questions, one more. Do you have an email address so I could contact you about a question about Fortune and Glory? It's about heroes teaming up on an adventure in coop mode. BTW 2 new expansions are supposedly coming out this month.

Hey mate, your videos are a big help. Hope you and your family are well. Had a break from the game for a while, played today to refresh myself. I had a question with the sanctify stage. I defeated minion A, the structure card said after doing this may go to sanctify...the master card was there after escaping previously, so do I remove every other card and leave the master? Or leave all cards? Thanks for your time.

Sorry another question. Depending on your answer I might abandon this game. I don't want to waste $70 getting the next two expansions if the game is like this.
Taking the Plunge, the damage on the Wendigo and Bystander. It lists the you symbol says damage next, then a colon, then has the circle with the saint in your Nexus, which means all Saints in your Nexus. After those symbols it says suffer and bury the damage. If this means that failing against the Wendigo means all Saints have to take the same damage and bury those cards as damage then I'm out..I took 10 damage by this thing, due to having to trash my two highest dice. This would mean all of my Saints would have no cards for their next turns . Since we are at the end of the 3rd Nexus, cannot move, and have a 50/50 chance of encountering him next turn so it is impossible to carry on. One failed roll would mean failure? Or does it mean another Saint may take the damage for you, the Saint who failed the attack?
