I often get asked about the finish on my mugs since they look so different while they’re in process. My black slip, which I carve through, looks gray until final glaze firing. It confuses a lot of people who are expecting a gray mug to come out of the kiln! I mix pigment into my slip so the true color is hiding until the end, but it sure makes the big reveal a little more exciting. 🖤🩶

It looks fantastic. I know I would chuck it across the room the second my fingers came into contact with the unglazed surface, but it looks wonderful. I have to glaze all of my work because of the texture.
