My grandfather drove for transport America for nearly my whole young life and raised me until he had to retire due to his health in 2013. I remember when he first got his new kenworth. Anytime id want to stop at a walmart or whatever id plan my trip to stores when i could take a 30min break between my driveshift to park at stores that dont allow overnight parking, and find a radius of places within where i might be in that timeframe, or id plan them as weekend parking spots for my 34hour reset for places that allowed overnight, so i can stock up and reorganize the truck or install whatever stuff i bought for the truck. Its like a game lol, figure out where youre allowed to go grocery shopping lmfao or buy speakers for your stereo. Or a new TV.

Get an electric scooter or skateboard, they're small enough to pack inside your truck and will make parking easier as you can better travel longer distances.

I had a time I wanted to go to a fry’s electronics store in Arizona. I literally called the store, confused the poor lady on the phone, and finally got transferred to the guy in charge of receiving. Then explained I’m a truck driver and asked if I could park on his dock and go inside to shop. He told me park on door 5-8 and it wouldn’t be a problem.

I experienced this when I did a solo cross country trip in a 26' Penske towing a single car trailer. After the first couple days, I scouted out all my future stops on satellite view 😅
