I think that this is the most Golden FM video ever. I loved it!

When concluding that the tiki-taka default tactic isn't useful, I think you have to consider the players avaiable too. You'll need technically gifted, top class decision making and vision players to actually create chances with the traditional tiki taka in order for it to be able to penetrate a low block. Great and insightful vid nonetheless! Please keep it up!

I feel like some of these tactics aren't really suited to the German game. It's very different from the epl/la liga. Is there any way you could make this a side series over the course of the year? If be interested in seeing different teams in different leagues for sure!

So at least for the Catenaccio tactic, the team did not play the tactic for the whole season. It should have been 5-3-2 but you only see the team play 4-4-2

I think it depends on the player really.
Stuttgart just don't have the players to fit some styles

You could do it with man city, cause this way you really can tell wether the pre-set tiki taka works or not. The cardiff city plan is a very good one too. Maybe you can do two experiments then: man city and cardiff, so both ends of the spectrum will be covered.

Not surprising relegated with Park The Bus. If you set out every match to not score goals then ultimately you won’t sore enough to stay up.

Every team has their own preferred tactic regardless if every player has their own preferred style of play.
Literally he said it at the beginning part of the people. If only people actually watch the video before commenting.

You could do this experiment for EVERY TEAM in the default database. To make it more realistic, use that same tactics until you are sacked. Doesn’t matter if you run it for a few seasons to take effect, the result is either you retire with that same tactic or SACKED cuz your tactic is shit.

This video doesn’t mean anything but it does prove a point that a team has their own style of tactic and that depends on the players’ style of play.

Overall this is a good video. In this video, Stuttgart now has a preferred tactic to work with, which is Vertical tiki taka.
So in your 1st season, run the season with that tactic.
Once the season is over, now it’s time to SELL PLAYERS that doesn’t work well with this tactic, buy players that works well with this tactic and tweak the tactic a little bit and start the 2nd season. then repeat the process til you feel you will win the league and get trophies

I’ve discovered that if you have high Wingbacks (attack) in combination with low Inverted Wings (support) and overlaps makes for A LOT of crosses into and outside the box.
Really demanding on physical attributes for the wing backs but it makes for extremely exciting playstyle.

I’ve not tried with a target man striker while using this strategy, because I didn’t have a target man striker, but I can imagine it working well.
Something like a Box to Box midfielder like Fellaini, a target man like Crouch and maybe a Poacher like Chicharito would make some fun results.

Isn't there, like, too much variance in any one season to make concrete conclusions here? You'd really need to run the same tactic over a few seasons to see trends.

Doing this experiment so early on when there is a known bug with the match engine makes it inaccurate, would love to see it after they bring out the full game, great video nonetheless

im curious why you havent maximized tactical familiarity at the beginning of each run.

Any possession tactic needs to have players with high technical atributtes and good mentality. And then you need to have a very clinical finisher with great off the ball and antecipation.

Please do more on tactics. The more data you gather, the more useful the results are

Just a heads up: Catenaccio is defined by man marking defenders with spare covering defender.

great video! definitely interested in seeing it with other teams, hopefully we won't see the same 2 tactics working for everyone! - possibly try one top of the table team and one relegation candidate (maybe Bayern and Dusseldorf)

Thank you for this interesting experiment. I wonder how much this was influenced by the players in the team and how this would go with a different squad. I hope Leipzig won't be that OP in the final release, also RIP Düsseldorf for getting relegated 9 times.

If you do the same experiment with Bayern or Dortmund I think you should disable a transfer budget in the first window, otherwise it won't be representative enough of how good the tactic actually is since the board might buy top level players to accommodate that tactic.

Vertical tiki taka is awesome I have fm18 and 19. I copy the setting of tiki taka to fm18 and I won 0-1 possession 60%-40% & 5 fouls with a small team. Them a add vertical tiki taka and I won 4-0 possession 61%-39% & one foul against, Seville.
