I never understood why people love listening to poets until I came across this video. She delivered this so well and the emotions she conveyed was crystal clear. Such a powerful performance.

*Accents is what makes you to stand out. People become mesmerised and allured, wanting to know everything about your background.*
Never be ashamed of who you are, embrace it fully and people will respect you even more.

People used to mock my accents (Sometimes they still do). But I'm learning to accept and be proud of the way I speak. This poem gives me the drive to do so.

Accent is a national symbol. You can easily know a person by just his/her accent. Its amazing how the English language become more complex and complex and diverse

I'll embrace my Filipino accent now rather than masking it with a fake American accent. This poem boosted my patriotism even more. Salamat!

This describes my mother's accent to a T and I cried a little. Never knew there was a poem that could explain it so well but now this means the world to me. Thank you Ted-Ed.

Snaps to the poet, claps to the animator. I love how ted ed always finds a great animator to fit the aesthetic/message of the videos, it's almost an art in itself😄

"English. Be too NEAT for her kind of WONDERFUL." I love it. 💓Thank you for bringing this poem to life. I adore it, and the love this poet obviously holds for her mother is incredible.

The stubborn compass pointing her to home quote is so deep, it will hit you so hard, even though I try my best to speak english without any accent, remember, accents are the ones who tell us where you originated from, don't degrade yourself just because of it, embrace it for it's uniqueness.
