June 6, 1989 - Already with four NBA championships to his name as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, Pat Riley sat down with Hubie Brown prior to Game 1 of the 1989 NBA Finals to explain how it feels to be on the verge of greatness.

As it was, the Detroit Pistons denied Riley a fifth title after sweeping the Lakers 4-0. It'd take Riley 17 more years to secure that extra ring, leading Shaquille O'Neal, Dwyane Wade, and the Miami Heat to the promised land in 2006.
