By the way NASA does this is because when they shoot the rockets they hit the asteroid into pieces and they separate so that it goes away from earth in different positions

The issue is debris falling into the atmosphere, most of it will be burnt as it enters the earths atmosphere, but depending on how big the debris is it could have an impact.

Moon actually does help as well as it has a lot of craters that look like asteroid ones because moon is protecting us from the asteroids thats why it has craters
