I have guitars with edge pro, licenced floyd and one original floyd made by schaller Germany. They are all ok. The original is more sensitive, feels great but the sensitivity comes with disadvantages too.

I've got a Jackson JS Dinky coming but planned to block the trem at the onset. Glad to hear you say that will take care of the problem.

I have Floyd Rose on most of my guitars, some licensed some not. Blunt knife edges aren't the death of a bridge if you know how work them properly there are ways round it.

Ive had 2. ibanez js1000, and a jackson rr3. The JS1000 at the time, early 2004 i think. So I think it was a edge or edge pro. that prestige ibanez I had, the bridge was absolutely perfect. It was so good so smooth and sounded so good that I developed a very strong whammy style. In fact I couldnt play guitar without it at some point because I just loved the way it felt and sounded. I woud say it gave me a govan or dimebag sounding style. The Jackson however, was absolutely useless. It was so bad I never even practiced on that guitar ever. It wasnt even about if it staye din tune or not, the thing just didnt work at all. Like it wasnt smooth, it felt too stiff and also wasnt reliable when you push down it immediately just puts all the notes to completely slop low too out of tune, you just coudlnt control your pitch or notes, inconsistent even when I was a pro at whammy tricks. And it would barely pull up as well, maybe half a step, but that didnt work well because again it was much stiffer going up than it was going down, major inconsistency. And I know I could tweak the springs in the back ect, whch i did, but i never really figured out how to make it consistent and work. And the truth is it doesnt work and is inconsistent because they put these little metal arms that were supported by this litte sticker with a sponge material, so what gave you the drag was that these little metal arms would flex against the spondey material and that is what gave you your drag or support when you push or pull up on the whammy. If you can see what im talking about you will totally understand how that design is so cheap and inconsistent. Just absolute trash, I wouldnt like whammy if I had to learn on that thing. I probably would have been like 90% of people and quit guitar the first week. it was so god awful shit. it boggles my mind that a professional guitar manufacturer like jackson who sells product all over the world could actually sleep at night selling that shit to a kid whose spending 12 hours a day practicing guitar, trying to painfully learn guitar, a already very difficult instrument and the thing doesnt even work and is built so cheaply and he will never figure it out.

The guitar I had is a Les Paul style guitar with a licensed Floyd rose on it and it finally broke so I’m gonna get a Floyd rose original bridge a replacement but for the year and half to 2 years I had originally got the guitar it was a pretty good keeping it in tune

I have a schaller licensed Floyd on my 1989 charvel and it’s the best trem ever so not all licensed trems are shit

G’day Steve,
If you have a minute, could you please measure the width of one of the saddles on the Guitar Fetish Floyd? Or if it’s easier, just measure across all 6 of them please?
I’d like to buy one of those Guitar Fetish trems, but before shipping it all the way down to Australia, it would be good to have a very accurate measurement for the string spacing on the Guitar Fetish Floyd.
If possible it would also be awesome to know what the saddle heights are. I’m hoping it will suit a 15” neck radius without having to shim the saddles too much.
Thank you for any help or info you can provide. (The measurements aren’t shown on the Guitar Fetish website).

What do you think about the Jackson floyd roses? I heard they do go out of tune but only very slightly

I strongly suspect it has a lot to do with the player, as well as the set up of the guitar. I always thought it was my shit guitar setups, til my mate brought his Ibanez Prestige in, and he was dive bombing all over the place, and it stayed in tune great. I got my hands on it, and knocked it out of tune straight away, and I was trying to be careful. The Kahler on my Kerry King V on the other hand, I have never ever had trouble with tuning, but they can snap a string within minutes. Just seems like Floyd style trems need a trem setter on them as standard. It's like buyng a car with wheels as an optional extra for me. But again, the fact that a lot of people dont need them so that either comes down to the natural playing style of the individual, or my shit guitar setups. I'm going to persevere And try not to do what I did with my original guitar and throw it against the wall, and give it away. Wood block idea never worked for me because Im lousy at cutting wood. The Tremel-no works fine, unless again your heavy handed, I still managed to knock that out out tune. I fucking hate players who can get these to work. Hate with a with a passion, lucky basterds ;P. lmao. Beyond jealous.
