Peter, while patrolling the city, rescues an elderly man from an oncoming cab, but the man criticizes Peter for his reckless actions. Peter also inadvertently disrupts a police operation by capturing a thug who was leading the police to their base. Despite his good intentions, Peter faces criticism and misunderstanding from those he tries to help, leading him to question his role as a hero. The elderly man, after being saved by Spider-Man, returns home where his wife had been extremely worried due to his absence and because he had left without his hearing aid. When he shares his encounter with Spider-Man, she gets emotional and thankful to Spider-Man for saving him.

The old women part is 100% made from a writer who actually loves spider man

I want to see a comic where Peter just stops being a hero just out of pettiness and watches the city burn while people cry for him to come back

Spider-Man the hero people need, not the hero they want. That will always be his gift and curse.

Imagine being one of the purest superheros and STILL taking sh*t. NOW THAT is how you get deep seeded self esteem issues

Even if they dont appreciate saved, someone else always appreciates them coming home

Like really Spider-Man could ask how many people died with him around. They backtalk, and he leaves for at least a week. And he starts swinging by again. Either they get extremely mad at him leaving, realize how much they actually relied on him to save people, or both.

They are like that because they take life for granted and haven’t experienced the loss and suffering peter has so instead of being grateful they insult him

Something i found interesting was that when Stan Lee was writing Spider-man, most of the police actually liked Spider-man and appreciated his help. The big problem came from Jamenson's articles that made it seem like the police didn't like Spider-man and misunderstandings.
For example when Captain Stacy died in the comics Jonah had the Bugle publish articles saying that the police blamed Spider-man for his death when in reality they just wanted to hear from him what happened with Doc Ock so they could charge him as responsible for the death. As for misunderstandings, one time a police officer got angry at Spider-man who then left only for anotger panel to reveal that the officer was just angry that he stopped the thieves before they could commit a crime so they couldn't be arrested, there was also a time when the chaneleon sent the police after him by making them think he was disquised as Spider-man. Another time the police had gathered outside a building where Spider-man was fighting a Villain and when he came out the police wabted to know what happend inside only for Jonah to yell at the police to arrest him now that they had the chance, causing Spider-man to flee thinking that the police were deceiving him so they could arrest him. Meanwhile while he had been fighting the villain the Police had secured the area and had decided to let Spider-man handle it and wheb Jonah began yelling at them to go in and arest him the police refused and spoke up for Spider-man.
In Stan Lee's run Johnah may have turned a large number of citizebs against Spidey but the Police liked him and one officer called Jonah a "windbag".

A real hero does what he has to do. He does not seek fame or recognition for his actions.😊

If I was spider man I would be so petty, I would of stopped being a hero until they really needed me and if they keep saying I suck ill leave again for longer

I am fully aware he would never do it, but i would love to see a comic where Pete just retires as a hero (no less than a year) and let them realize how much hes needed and beg for his return

Can people PLEASE just give Peter the thanks he deserves?!

While the cops had a point about the sting operation being interrupted, saying that common crooks are “real bad guys” while supervillains aren’t is arrogant.

And if they played their cards right, they could’ve still made the sting operation work if they didn’t complain about it directly in front of the kid. Just say that Spider-man doesn’t have jurisdiction and let the kid go to hopefully still lead them to the ones in charge. But they just had to throw out 6 months of work by complaining to Spider-man’s face and calling him a jerk as if he hasn’t saved all their lives a couple dozen times

Then the old couple is blown up by the green goblin and the guilt of their deaths weighs on Spider-Man’s soul.

JJJ made spider man's life a living hell and got rich due to it. I wish the writers will make a story that will make JJJ eat his words.
