In this video we look back at this clash of football hooligan titans. Manchester United's Red Army and West Ham's ICF (Inter City Firm). Such was the anticipation of this event a film maker captured it all on video and the resulting film is called Hooligan. I am not allowed to show any of this video due to copyright, but you can buy it from various sources. But for now, listen to the stories from those who were present on this momentos day.

My mate, a Liverpool fan knew some ICF and went with West Ham to that game. He says West Ham definitely came off second best. He said United's mob was huge and weren't just young lads but older boys, some looked like they were hooligans from the 1970s. He said West Ham got done in the city centre and outside the ground.

United attacked the special that arrived at warwick road, this train was normal fans and scarfers, but we had plenty of nutters on that train, who weren't icf, but would stand when we had to, we scattered the united mob waiting, threw their ammo and run, it was kicking off all over the place, must admit the 1000 strong united mob that did run us, was impressive. That was my take on the day,

My last Man Utd game was against West Ham I’m pretty certain it was the 1982-83 season. Somehow during the second half West Ham fans got into the Man Utd end where me and my best mate was, forcing us onto the touch line. After the game the West Ham fans chased us all the way down Warwick Road to the station. West Ham fans were climbing fences in the nearby field trying to get us us and the fences came crashing down, just then a train pulled into the station and there was an almighty push and we got on the train. I’ll never forget it me and my mate were 15 at the time

First of all, it was March 1985.
Funny thing is Man City also played at home that day.
I’m a Blackpool fan who lived in London at the time. About 30 of us got the train to Manchester that day as we were playing at Bury. Man City London supporters were also on the train. The police put us all in the middle carriage and when we got to Victoria station as London trains weren’t going to Piccadilly at the time, we held ba back so as to not get put in the escort.
Blackpool rioted at Bury, over 90 arrests and their main stand got smashed up as well as a wall getting pushed over.
It wasn’t all plain sailing as I got battered at the Brunswick at about 8pm, as a load of United thought I was WestHam.
Some you win, some you lose 🤣🤣🍊🧡

West Ham were good and the best for a few years apart from one mob and that was Man United...I don't get why teams don't own up and say United were too good for all sides. They have numbers by far bigger than than the rest since FV emerged and them huge numbers were of quality...from a Tottenham fan..

I was there that day and I can tell you that West Ham got battered on a few occasions... I'm a utd fan I was 25 then went everywhere with them went to west ham countless times from 75 through the 80s 90s and early 2000s ..yes we had some dodgy times there it's a moody place to go but utd always turned up there in my opinion... West ham do have a top firm obviously no denying that but they claim to be undefeated which is ridiculous... The truth is they were defeated that day and to say anything else is just fantasy.. On the hooligan film one of west hams top boys said they got a result 😂.. They gave it a right go fair enough but I think even they know they were demolished that day... it's ok to admit it west ham everybody gets done sometime.. MUFC ❤

Whu firm arrive at about 11oclock at piccadilly station in the morning, which is shown on the docementy the old bill tried to spilt up whu firm, running battles all day backwards and forward all the way to the ground what i remember of the day had a seat in the ground little kick off in the seats while the game was going on a electric atmosphere you don't get this anymore at grounds, what i saw whu which i am done well that day, we left early because we knew mancs would be also leave and alot of them would not go to the game, if i remember correctly it went straight off when we left early in Warwick road at the junction of the pub and traffic lights at this point whu firm split up some went left and walk back to piccally station, can't comment on that as some of us went straight down to the local station we pull in at one station on the way back their was manc firm who got on on the back of the train, we pull in to Oxford road station where it kick off between both firms, got alot of respect for the mancs always turn up at Upton park, unlike our friends from west London.

To say Westham did well, is truly optimistic. I appreciate people have different memories.
