ACT records 1,359 cases since lockdown

Chief Minister Andrew Barr says the ACT has recorded 1,359 COVID-19 cases since the lockdown first began.

The lockdown commenced on Thursday August 12 at 5pm and is scheduled to end at 11:59pm on Thursday October 14.

"In a little over 12 hours, the ACT lockdown will end. This does not mean the end of COVID risk, though – and that's why the first step out of lockdown will be a gentle and measured step forward," Mr Barr told Thursday's media conference.

"Since the lockdown commenced, there have been 1,359 recorded cases of the virus in the territory, 119 people have been hospitalised, 24 have needed intensive care – and sadly, seven people have lost their lives."

Overnight the ACT recorded 46 locally acquired cases of COVID-19.
