In my experience in M&B2 the best way to stop cavalry is by having more cavalry 😂

If there were more pikeman, AND if the so called fearless leader got down and joined the ranks!

Gotta have atleast 2-3 pikeman per horse or a tighter formation forcing them into a gap so they can't flank you but from what I see they probably would've crushed you either way since knights are super strong even off horse due to armor, weapons, and skills.

If you pay attention it still kind of worked, no one died during the initial charge, but now their surrounded, which might actually be better because of a more tight pike square formation

I’m in the end game of a Macedon Campaign on Total War Rome II DEI MOD and watching horses wash these braced pikes is actively shaving years off my life.

you need a square to prevent being attacked by flanks, maybe a circle with archers inside.

that is some "if the cavalry isn't working you aren't using enough" in action right there

You need almost double in length and about 10-12 rows to stop that many charging heavy cavalry.

Because you were outnumbered, I imagine a tight skein upon initial engagement then into a circle would work. You got surrounded and lost.
