In this video I check out Airfix's brand new 1:24th scale Spitfire Mk.IXc, I convey my opinions about the kit in the video, however, I believe this is an absolute game changer for Airfix and are slowly starting to get into the same ball park as manufacturers such as Tamiya! Check out the video to find out more!

The kit looks epic, looking forward to see you build it

Great looking kit, a lot of thought has gone into this. Great to see it is being manufactured in the UK. Not really my thing scale wise or subject . But having said that I am sure Airfix have a winner on their hands, well let’s hope so. The cost seems pretty reasonable considering other company’s are charging well over £100 for big kits these days.

Great vid & nice kit, 👍🏻but how is it a game-changer? That title was more true of the Tamiya 1/32 version when it came out in 2009 complete with photo etch, ultra thin scale engine cowl panels & magnets to fix them to the model. Pound for pound and taking scale into account, the new Airfix Avro Anson is a more impressive kit in my view.

Nice vid. Thankfully you didn't waste 10 minutes telling me what's on the side of the box and got some nice close ups of the quality of the plastic and the details early on. No comments about the accuracy but given you get straight to the aforementioned, not a big deal. One technical comment: the sound was very low - was your mic in the other room? :) One comment on style: long silences in review vids generally don't work, especially if there is no music in the background (which wouldn't have been appropriate here anyway); so the section where you are flicking through the instruction manual either needs to be much shorter or - and this would be my suggestion - you could be using this time to offer general thoughts, talk about other aspects etc. As to the kit, you are indeed correct that this is a game changer for Airfix, but it also speaks to just how poor so much of their output has been previously; in 1/72 they are nowhere compared to Armahobby and Eduard, and in 1/48 Tamiya and Eduard lead the way in aircraft by a large margin, and Airfix aren't really in the picture. I only build large scale (1/32 and up) so I suggest you take a close look at Tamiya's uberkits in 1/32, especially their Spitfire IX; the close up shoots you very clearly and helpfully provided here tell me that surface detail is good, but does not quite have the fidelity of Tamiya. On the plus side of course, is the stunning price point - this is clearly a LOT of kit for your money. I haven't checked any of your other vids yet so don't know how you build but strongly suggest using masks for markings, and OneManArmy masks for stencils; paints please use MRP and none of this Humbrol or Vallejo nonsense! Best of luck, and thanks for the vid. Nick.

Unless they fixed the cowling problem fit this is no game changer
