So excited to see this finally adapted for the screen. The novel is still one of my favorites of all time. I love Charlie Hunnam and am sure he'll bring the character of Lin to life properly. I just hope they find a way to incorporate the inner monologue that Lin has in the book in a natural and organic way. That was one of the most profound and compelling parts of the novel; the insights, observations, and perspectives that Lin shares with the reader. The action and story almost played the supporting role to that, and I wonder how that will translate to the screen.

Either way, I can't wait!

Hello GDR,
I just inhaled Shantaram and then immediately after, Mountain Shadow. Your books pulled me through them so fast, so easy to read. Each chapter left me hungry to know what was going to happen next. So well written! My main question right now: will there be a third book in the series? I want to find out when you left Bombay and why, and how you got caught, and what it was like to serve your remaining prison time after all that. I know it's a novel but I'm guessing there were so many experiences that happened in real life to inform your story line.

One big question that kept coming up as I read both novels; how did you meet love so directly? So many of us have so many internal blocks to love. As Rumi said, "Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it." Most of us have lifetimes of built up barriers. How did a convicted criminal who lived a gangster life stay so open to love? I found myself feeling envious. Was this just character development or did it reflect your own openness to meet love full-on with an open heart? I am so curious! Thank you for writing these books. They touched me deeply, they made me cry, I loved the humanity in them.

Read the book in 2011 realty enjoyed and I must say it was so profound it marked my destiny for a while....Its a really great book mate. Anyway ended up advocating for miscarriages of justice for a bit after. I think if I hadn't read the book I would of taken another path. But that path was put like a book back on the shelf. Didn't even know about the film till today. I must watch it.
