How to Find CHEAP RENT in Vancouver & Beyond

If you're a milennial or gen-z looking for your first apartment, check out this video on how to find cheap rent, not only in Vancouver, but beyond! A lot of these tips may seem a bit obvious, but they helped me secure the bag aka find slightly cheaper rent in the city. Vancouver is an expensive place to rent, so finding something that's more affordable is rare but totally do-able!

Oh and once settled for the first year, even if you don't have homies, ask around students or colleagues (if you're a worker) about their areas, rents, how comfortable they feel, etc. That's how I got to rent my second place in Europe (through a classmate, I went to her rented room and I loved it and when she left, I just "took over" it like an empress hahahah).
Many people underestimate walking around the city and looking at small ads literally stuck on some windows or building walls, so the fact that you mentioned it is a big "plus" for me! ;-) Choosing an area where you feel comfortable walking around is also very important, especially for international students and new comers/immigrants. It's better to pay a bit more and be comfortable enough to be emotionnally stable and happy than just look for the cheapest place and be miserable there, especially in an era where we might see more epidemics (so being stuck in quarantine in a place you wanted to use to sleep and store your belongings will turn into a living hell). I hope people will listen to you, start by renting a place for two weeks (or less) to put your belongings there and walk thoroughly throughout the city and make these phone calls (I hate them too hahahah).
