The 16 Bit War (Full Playlist):

In this video I will showcase some of Sega's many console revisions of the Genesis. These are evidence of how Sega tried to stay on the cutting edge, even with their aging hardware. Some revisions are good, some are not so good. Also included are some of the hardware accessories produced by Sega and by third parties. Let's take a look.

Enjoying your series! I love that you find the positives of all consoles rather bashing.

Really enjoying these reviews and this channel, I'm looking forward to the Turbografx next! I definitely can understand you being on the Sega bandwagon, especially back in the day, but I was always a Nintendo guy....right up until I played Sonic 2 for the first time, then saved up as much as a could, and got the Model 2 Genesis with Sonic 2 and Sonic Spinball. I'm sure a lot of people had the same experience, but Sonic 2 made me get a Genesis. I also got the Sega Channel when it came out and man was that so far ahead of its time. Such good memories, but since then I had both the newest Nintendo and Sega console, until unfortunately Sega got out of hardware. But what a system to go out with, man the Dreamcast was awedome. I've stuck to retro for the most part, growing my massive collection of 23 systems, but have gotten the Wii, Wii U, and Switch a couple years after when the price dropped, so I guess I'm still a Nintendo fanboy at heart who still loves Sega, i only say that because I would love to see you do a series on the NES (my favorite), and especially SNES if you're talking bit wars. Might as well do the Jaguar at that point...and yes unfortunately I have it. Kee up the great content man, I'll be telling buddies about this channel and see if I can support you on Patreon.

One thing with the Sega cdx is the power supply for the model 2 will indeed work, but is not recommended for the use with it because there is a difference in power. Cdx original power adapter is VERY expensive though..and rare to find.

I actually bought the model 1 genesis at some convention a few years ago. I bought for personal enjoyment and it I think it costed $40. I had to buy an av cables to get it to work, and I plugged in av cables, it worked perfectly

Use a multi meter and test any power supply you are hooking to make sure it puts out proper levels to the system most power packs have an inner fuse in them so when they go bad it burns out the pack not your system in some cases with larger packs its a regular type car fuse you can replace yourself.

Mega Drive/Genesis is a great machine, many revisions, everyone find something to its preferences. Model 1 are the best with stereo headphones input. You know about XBAND? It's very revo accessory with online gaming (back in the time 1994-1997). I'll go to next episode, it's very addictive series :)

The Genesis 6-button turbo controller was the first time you saw a bundle like that? Now that, is very interesting. The TG-16 came with a turbo controller in its very first revision. I never owned one when they were...well current but I had friends with one. We used to compare my Model 1 Genesis to their Turbo Grafx. When the respective CD ROM add-on's hit we compared those as well. Even though we both had an Snes we never added that to our comparisons. I liked my Snes but my Genesis will always remain my favorite.

Didn't Lethal Enforcers work with the Sega Menacer? At any rate, I wanted one of thos se badly; However, for once my parents said no and I'm thankful they did as there were simply no games for it. I wound up getting TMNT: The Hyperstone Hiest that day (I already had the Snes TMNT before it). I think it was because the Menacer was $100.00.

Addendum-I remember the Sega Channel very well. I had a friend that had one and I played it a bit...the only problem was she was a very attractive friend and even though we never officially got together we hooked up constantly so I never got a real chance to sink my teeth into it. She actually lured me like a moth to a flame with the Sega Channel and booze. I wish Sega had continued the service with the Saturn as it had a cartridge slot. That could have been a way to play Genesis games on a Saturn. Time Warner could have used the cable hookup and box to run the games and the Saturn cart slot as a pass through. Although...didn't the Saturn have a 68K processor in it?

I've been using a G3v2 since '99. I'd bought it to replace the G2 my brothers killed, which I'd bought with my summer work money. I've since acquired a G1v7, which is permanently "on". Power switch screwed up and bypassed.

I find that my model 1 only works correctly with the OEM adapter.

Model 1 sounds better no contest. I still have my High Definitions Graphics and non TMSS genesis :)

Oh God no, Streets of Rage on the Model 1 just sounds so crisp and the Model 2 is....I'm glad I had the very first model in 1989. I love the High Definition Graphics across the top of the old machine. Plus the Model 1 Genesis with the Model 1 Sega CD looked so amazing together. I always thougt the second model with the CD looked more like a toy. The Model 3 just looks so stupid I just couldn't see myself ever owning one...yuck.

You must be forgetting the Turbo Grafx 16. Each one came with a turbo equipped controller. The same for Turbo Duo and I believe the Turbo Express.
