$99 Tractor mounted post driver- Will it work?

Here's the deal - driving t-posts for fencing is AWFUL. So, let's let the tractor do it, and let's not spend like $4k. We're making a tractor mounted tee post pounder on the cheap!

if you've ever built a fence, you know that driving t-posts by hand is not fun. hydraulic post drivers are expensive. pneumatic post drivers are terrifying. And cheap tractor mounted t-post drivers are often damaging to your loader frame. There's gotta be a better way!

Here's a decent post pounder:

I have thought about ways to attempt this, all were more complex than what you cam up with. I was concerned the loader wouldn't have the force to get it done. Thanks for sharing.

Ive put In a stupid amount of t posts with just a skid. Take the bucket off and where the quick attach is I put the t post in there and down it goes. If it wants to bend Its easy to adapt to that with a skid. I'm not as savvy with our tractor but I'd imagine it would be just as easy.

That looks like a PITA. It's slow, it would be tough to line it up if you were working alone and if you don't have pallet forks, what do you do? They're $1100 each for my JD 2032r. Also, you're on a flat surface there. What happens when you get on hill sides or in the woods? I don't especially like t post pounders, but if i had lots to do, I'd rent a powered post pounder.

Great idea! Where’d you get the metal piece you used to pull out the posts?

Complicated overkill. I’ve pushed a lot of them in with the bottom of the bucket. Those look like they push easy.

Do you think this would work with a grapple attachment? Forks are on my long list of attachments but in the meantime gotta make due with what I got.

This likely only works in soft/moist dirt without rocks.

Yay I was fixing to buy a gas powered one, but this will work.

That's basically what I was thinking of.

I'm gonna use a few hd ratchet straps to get it on there solidly though.

loves this!!! I hate t-posts even in the sand I have. I am going to strap the pounder the bucket and push em in from now on. An buddy you need to get at least a pellet grill :)

You need to buy 2 turnbuckles to tighten the chains. You could also use 1 long chain, 2 grab hooks and 1 turnbuckle.

I wanna live on a farm ...where the animals aren't slaughtered. Peaceful, calm, clean air, great vibes, great views, and always got stuff to do.
