5-minute meditation: Van Gogh's Wheatfield, with Cypresses | National Gallery

Показать описание
A five-minute slow-looking meditation exercise to enjoy the details of Van Gogh's 'Wheatfield, with Cypresses'. The landscape includes elements typical of Provence, in the south of France, like a golden wheat field, tall evergreen cypresses, an olive bush and a backdrop of the blue Alpilles mountains.

Van Gogh wrote of painting outdoors during the summer mistral, the strong, cold wind of southern France, which here seems to animate the entire landscape. Everything is depicted with powerful rhythmic lines and swirling brushstrokes that convey Van Gogh’s sense of nature’s vitality.

Supported by the John Armitage Charitable Trust.

I was skeptical about this when I started the clip but felt very blissful by the end.

This was the first good VG I saw in person, the first time I visited England, in 1998, and I had a Stendahl sindrome attack in front of it. I was sure that I could only travel to Europe after many years of saving money, but suddenly I had the chance to go, but I had to take good care of every penny, so I visited de National Gallery, wich was my child's dream. And when very tired I decided to leave, cause it was free and could come back another day, I couldn't find the exit, room after room filled with marvels. A suddenly I was in front of it and had to stop, and while observing it I started to see the strokes of paint trembling, and revolving, and then a vortex of paint that seemed to swallow me inside the painting. I was so frightened that had to almost run from the place.
No other artist make me experience things as VG, and when I am in front of Starry Night at the MOMA it's almost the same, I can't stop crying. Not with sobs of cries, but with cataracts of teardrops that I am simply not interested in stop.

I don’t think I was meant to cry when this video was in envisioned but I was transported by the speakers voice to Provence and was sitting beside
Vincent has he painted this out in the fields with the wind blowing in the clouds swirling in the sky. Absolutely beautiful and very meditative. Thank you for transporting me after a long hard day at work this is just with the soul needed🙏🏻

Very good, thank you! Just the camera movements were a little too fast sometimes, disturbing the visual "flow".
