The last clip gives me the impression that William Lane Craig's problem is that he doesn't understand the difference between "subjective" and "not real".

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST- JP said something that made sense. That's enough internet for today.

That's why, as an atheist, to be wholly consistent with a theist's interpretation of what my philosophy must be, I never ride roller coasters, because at the end of the day I'm not still on the coaster.

Why live life knowing eventually the universe will grow cold and die in 100 trillion years? Why have kids know they will outlive you? why get married to the love of your life knowing it will end in either divorce or death?
These are the fake existential questions that seem really deep when your 13

When even Peterson totally destroys your argument, then your argument is terrible, and laughable. 😂

I’m guessing that meaning = whatever God wants, just like good = whatever God wants.

I completely agree with Jordan Peterson's point.

Miracles do happen.

How can I possibly enjoy anything if the universe will end in heat death billions of years after I'm dead? Said nobody ever.

I said this in the live premiere and I'll say it again. Once you realize that this life is all you get and that its time is limited and always ticking, you'll value it. You'll want to live the best life you can. We're also the result of millions of years of evolutionary success. It's like spitting paint onto a canvas and then having that form a masterpiece. That'll always be 10000x more cool than painting it by hand.

Craig goes to a library and picks a random book from the *25, 000* books in it.
He discovered the book wasn't relevant to the other *24, 999* books.
He throws the book in the trash cans because a book that isn't relevant to all other books is meaningless.
Craig picks another book...
Craig leaves the Library _"...book are meaningless"_

Let's say Craig is right, the meaning of life is to glorify God and enjoy him forever. So we all become Christians, and a billion billion years from now we're in heaven glorifying God. What did we do today that is going to have any meaning for us a billion billion years from now? Hug our kids? Put in a good day's work on the job? Why would _anything_ in our finite mortal existence, apart from getting saved, be at all meaningful to us a billion billion years from now? It seems to me Craig's view reduces our entire mortal life down to one single meaningful thing that renders everything else meaningless. God doesn't give meaning to our lives, he takes it away!

That takedown by Jordan Peterson was incredible.

Its kind of crazy most of Peterson's opinions are weird, opaque bullshit but he has 2 things he's right about (the death penalty and meaning in this context). It's like he cant form an understandable sentence but for 2 issues he is on the money

WLC isn’t a hypocrite. He has never watched a movie or listened to a song because they all end.

Imagine going to heaven and having to listen to Peterson and Craig FOREVER! 😂😂

Religious apologetics: an endless self masturbatory word game where the goal is to get everyone else caught in a definitional gotcha without actually saying anything useful.

Heh, his worst nightmare scenario is my Happy Thought.
And anyway, from my point of view, when I die, the universe will cease to exist.

...for me anyway.
My worst nightmare scenario is spending eternity with a bunch of televangelists in a sex-less, drug-less, booze-less heaven.

This is the same shell game he and other apologists play with morality. If God assigns us a purpose then it is objectively true to say that he assigned us a purpose, yes. But it doesn't mean the purpose ITSELF was objective. For contrast - it is also objectively true to say that someone who found meaning taking care of orphans found meaning that way. That would be objective fact, but surely Craig would not argue that this satisfies his desire for objective meaning.

What a sad, empty, and ultimately horrifying universe Craig thinks he lives in; where the only meaningful purpose of existence is to be an eternal lickspittle devoting himself to an imaginary magical tyrant that keeps him alive in some essential form for infinite time for that specific reason.

Does life require a meaning?
I am not talking about your life or my life. I am talking about the very concept of "life", and whether "meaning" is a necessary component to that concept.

Compare to what taste a color has or what the square root of a hamburger is.

You might immediately think; "Now you are just being silly" - which is a perfectly reasonable and valid response, because *_it is_* silly to talk about the taste of a color or the square root of a hamburger.
I am just not convinced, that it isn't equally silly to talk about the meaning or purpose of things like life (the concept) or the Universe, for example.

I have yet to be presented with compelling arguments, that meaning and/or purpose is an inherent fundamental necessary component to life.
