I own the makita, and looked at the ego on American YouTube videos, all cutting fine rye. In Australian conditions that things almost useless. Great review.

The 40v sounds awesome! How does it go with wet grass? and how is the rear discharge?

The only problem with the makita is that the blade is lighter gauge and susceptible to bending if you run over an object with it. If weight is a problem with the blade design, would love to see a titanium one made available.

An interesting video. Seen this same mower power through much thicker grass than any of this without stalling. Plenty torture test videos with the Ego on youtube. I've done the same on my own lawn as I own one of these myself. Looks like the self propel has issues while having it cranked up to its highest and going through taller grass. I turn the self propel off when I mow because the tool is so light I don't need it and, as you've pointed out, it's just doesn't work very well.

I just bought the smaller 480mm Makita XGT 40v lawn mower and did one lawn front and back today. I absolutely love it. Way better than my 140cc petrol mower. A certain tool store kept pushing EGO on me on me despite me pointing out why the Makita is better especially in thicker/taller grass. Have zero regrets and would highly recommend this Makita.

There's something wrong with your Ego mower or battery. I can take down 1 foot tall grass with that model and it will not cut out. I had something similar happen with their blower and support had me clean the contacts on the battery and blower, problem solved. They looked clean but had a little grease on them. Also similar issue with the snow blower on turbo and they replaced a battery.

Hi mate, just watched a few of your vids and am interested in your feedback on the Makita. I know in your other vid you were just trialing the Makita, did you end up purchasing it ? And if so, how’s it travelling after 6 months ?

I’m interested this in a commercial sense so keen on hearing about any issues that may have popped up in that time and what your getting on average,
Runtime wise off 2x 8ah on maintenance mowing ?

Thanks and appreciate the time you have taken to do the reviews. Not a lot out there on this Makita xgt / 40v gear.

How low does the Makita mow? Ego only goes down to 1.5in thats too high for my centipede grass.

So, etchings up with this review and video if the ego mower can’t make it through that grass. I’ve witnessed them going through much thicker grass with ease.

He is obviously pushing the Makita when testing speed🤣🤣🤣

I have the 40v Makita. So far the only negative to me is that when the first battery gets low it slows down quite a bit but won’t switch to the second battery I guess until it’s completely dead. I don’t have the patience so I usually just pull out the low battery and flip it over to force the mower to use the full battery.

I’m confused how the ego mowers do well in all the other videos but not this one… interesting to see the one exception

I like how the Makita is built like a traditional petrol mower, funny you're comparing these two as I'm currently looking at the Makita 40v range as I've been a little bit underwhelmed with my Ego stuff sadly.

Hello mate. New subs here from NZ. Question regarding to their warranty. Does the makita will void its 5 years warranty if we use it on a commercial lawn mowing business? Because ego will void its warranty if use commercially. Cheers

Ego is a toy ok if your regularly mowing your lawn . It's out dated hasn't had any real change to motor .

Hi great video mate. Always love your thoughts.

Would you be able to check out the husqvarna battery mower.

I use husqvarna equipment for my business for more than 2 years I love them no issues but don't know about their mowers.

Out of all reviews that reviews these two or makita against any battery power mower this is the only video that makita beats anything on lawnmower

watching that EGO stop, and makita powering through the not-too-bad longer grass? Umm... NOT buying an Ego. I wont' be a contractor - but just want a strong mower for residential use. The EGOs, plastic deck and all just seem cheap. Low-end. Did I read somewhere that Milwaukee M18 batteries work in the Makita as well? If so, then I already have backup batteries for it!
