I have a bell hanging next to my bed. When I wake up in the morning I ring it 3 times and go back to sleep

An old body of mine used to be a navy seal in the greek navy who implement the U.S seals training. He told me he went all the way through the 6 months of training, unlike many stronger and more athletic candidates doing one thing. He never thought beyond the next minute's time. Contemplating over the whole situation was most detrimental to one's will to go on. He said to me that in those 6 months of training he found out that the human body's capabilities are inexhaustible only to be sabotaged by its brain's thoughts and worries.

Forget that the bell exists. If failure is not an option you'll find a way. If failure is an option you might take it.

I wanted to quit my voluntary enlistment in Army Artillery and my Battery Commander told me, " Sometimes, the best way AROUND a problem is THROUGH it "
I stayed .

People who quit seals training are by no means weak. If everyone could pass it wouldn't be seals.

Patience and discipline are the most important parts in life. I learned this from an undead in World of Warcraft.

it's the mental toughness.. people who are mentally tough.. will grow through life with it being easier.. because they know how to cope with life's stresses and hardships..

I don't know the meaning of the word quit. That's why I've been employed at the same deadbeat job for 20 years at minimum pay.

I might not be a Navy Seal but what keeps you from quitting an endeavor is partially in part to why you started pursuing the mission in the first place. That thought will get you through the tough times in my opinion.

This video could not have come at a more perfect time. Tonight I attempted the Norwegian footmarch with my ROTC friends and cadre... after 1 hour (roughly 3.5 miles) I felt so much pain I stopped running. The minute I stopped, I felt I had failed and I fell out. Didn’t even keep walking.

I kept telling my cadets prior to this “when you narrowly define success, you broadly define failure”. Tonight I didn’t allow myself to succeed because i told myself if it’s not perfect, it’s a failure, and therefore I quit.

The amount of shame and disappointment i feel is indescribable. My ego was hit way harder than my body and it’ll take some time before I feel a sense of worth again.

What this video has done for me is remind me that it’s not a sprint, or even a race at all, but a journey. Tonight is over, and now I have another option; another chance to quit. I can walk away with this shame and never let it go, or I can pick myself up and go at it again next week. And the week after that. Until those 6 months go by and I’ve made that “evolution”.

Here’s to hoping my bad night turns into the motivation I need to make that evolution.

“Rage, rage, rage, against the dying of the light.” Simply telling myself this releases the right amount of energy I need in any difficult situation.
