i love that they are trying to put breathilizers into cars while you can get *arrested* for sleeping in your car while drunk and get charged with a dui.

not gonna let anyone borrow my car anymore if it means they would have to blow it

They should put DUI detectors at the door of every government office

I feel like this is one of those laws that at face value is a good idea but would actually lead to very unique consequences

Imagine needing to rush to an ER but needing to stop and blow into your state mandated breathalyzer and hope it doesn't malfunction

When I was a kid my mom used to tell me to blow in her breathalyzer because it would have been "triggered by her toothpaste". And then she would yell at me because I couldn't blow hard enough for the breathalyzer to register it. This is what I imagine a lot of kids would have to deal with if this became a thing.

Mouth Wash in the mornings before work is gonna be the new excuse to being late 😂

As someone who has a dui (don’t worry, I’ve learned my lesson) I like the idea in theory. The problem though is that these are not as reliable as they should be. They can be triggered by mouthwash and other things, and can be almost impossible for people with breathing issues to use. A man in my recovery class had COPD and had a difficult time getting it to function.

The other issue is that it’s difficult to make sure the person blowing is actually the person driving. Some parents have their kids blow into the device.

It could work, but I don’t think the technology is there yet. Plus people are going to do anything to get around it, possibly even making even more dangerous choices. I believe more effort should be put into making it more convenient to not drink and drive. Better public transit and programs/services like Uber and DoorDash. Maybe even a state sponsored sober taxi service.

Just my 2 cents.

"Hey! Hey bro! Can you blow into my thing real quick! Please! I'll give you 10 bucks! Oh thanks man you're amazing! God bless you man! Thanks! Oh, I only have $7 is that okay? Oh awesome thanks man! I'll never forget this!" 1, 000 times across the country every day this will happen lol

I remember as an 8-year-old kid blowing into one of these in my mom's car various times before we would leave to go to various places... Only recently did I realize what I was really doing... Just another reason on the list of why I don't talk to her anymore

I'm not proving my innocence just so I can drive my car.

This would be another way for insurance companies to monitor people and jack up prices.

Those are crazy expensive. It’s one of the worst things about a DUI (learned from a dare like thing) that’s the quickest way to make people stop buying new cars. They are super expensive. Also, since when has the raging alcoholic been the type to always buy new cars

Can’t wait for Rolls Royce to make a crystal breathalyzer

Add public transportation ❌
Put breathalyzers in cars ✅

It’s one more thing that can malfunction and make my car undriveable. I think drinkers will just disable it or get a friend to breath in it.

Hi I install breathalyzers into cars and deal with it everyday I work for smart start and I can tell you it won’t make a difference at all there is plenty of ways around it and the technology still sucks
