You can do it without writing every possibility out.

In order to roll 5, your first die has to be less than 5, so thats a 2/3 chance.

No matter what number you roll first, there is only one number that can add to that and make five. (It cant be true that x+2=5 and x+3=5) so you have a 1/6 chance of the second die being the number you need.

2/3*1/6=2/18=1/9

Assuming, of course, we're talking about 6-sided dice. The word problem, as it stands, contains too much ambiguity to solve definitively.

Pair is singular, a pair of dice is rolled.

(a) no math needed. My bro and I used to make and play dice baseball games in 5th grade we figured all the 2 dice probabilities out on our own.

when you simplify 2/18 you get 1/9. You always want to simplify the answer.

🤔🤔🤔🤔 should that be 12 possibilities 6 for each die ?

I’m fairly certain that is the wrong answer given the two of the four answers are the same thing essentially

I'm not so sure there are 4 possibilities. 4&1 and 1&4 isn't same? Just saying..

roll is not an adjective. instead, say “rolled” like “A pair of dice are rolled.” Even simpler though would be “A pair of dice roll” or “You roll a pair of dice.”

If the dice are roll, whatever that is, they are not dice, so e, none of the above.

This isn’t correct we only need to take 2 possibilities as the order does not matter because they are rolled together.

If it was mentioned that we roll dice one after another then we could have taken 4 possibilities.
