I had heard of the “diving dogs of the Philippines” but I didn’t know I’d get to meet a “Coral Retriever”!! …get it? 😂

This is just a fraction of the incredible moments I had in Siargao during my (4th) visit to the Philippines, and I’m honestly overwhelmed with how amazing this trip was that I couldn’t even figure out what to post first so…

Behold!! Chilli the famous (or soon to be!) dog diver, coral retriever, etc, who literally won’t play fetch on land, only under water, and only with giant rocks 😂

He’s one of the mascots of my friends at @imheretravels and yes, he attends most of their group tours! I’m so incredibly grateful to have spent the week with all of them, and really hoping to return, possibly for one of my own group trips!

This video was from our island hopping day on Corregidor beach, just a short boat ride from General Luna in Siargao. If all of that sounded confusing, please drop a comment so you get notified when my thorough blog post about here comes out!

Thank you Siargao for an extremely fun, refreshing, rejuvenation two weeks!! Time to fly back to Papua New Guinea tomorrow for our group trip, so my Philippines content will resume after that!!

Have you heard of Siargao yet??

I believe that rock is actually a piece of dead coral. They're super cool.

I have never seen a dog hold its breath, underwater like that before. It is literally a diving dog.

How does the dog know to hold its breath when underwater and not suck in water with its nose?
Was it trained, or is it a natural instinct?
