I have put a lot of money on RF glass - Sticking with Canon. Still using the EOR R - and producing some amazing photographs. Waiting for the R1 or new iteration of R5 before getting a new body. No need to change brands. They are all good and the choice is mind blowing. Thank you for all the research you are putting in, s`ving us the leg work - much appreciated.

It's difficult to fathom there being value in these companies releasing camera bodies to fill out price points only a few hundred dollars away from each other. I mean, do we really need 5 cameras under $2000?...is a buyer who is unable to afford a $1500 camera, able to afford a $1200 camera?....really?? In today's dollars, practically speaking those two price points are the same number. Especially in the case of Canon, those aren't the holes they need to plug. Their lack of fast, wide primes is the hole they need to plug currently.

The r3 shoots up to 30 frames a second not 20 and the sensor is 24.1 not 20 as you say.
All I will say Simon you have to use one to understand how good the r3 is.
Also the r3 can shoot up to 195 fps for a quick burst and 240 fps slow mo.

Canons low priced RF lenses are not great compared to the competition. If your not running L glass your stuck with substandard build quality lenses with a front element that protrudes out when it focuses. M43 lenses don't even do that. I've tried just about every camera brand and canon was an immediate return do to those RF lenses.

Thanks again Simon 😁. I wonder how much supply chain issues affect these numbers? Is this more of what people can get verses what they want?. More on R6 Simon, you always seem to overlook the little brother. It's a great Cam. Especially if it gets firmware upgrade like R5 to fix bogus overheating

I am a Sony user through and through but I really like Canon R3. That is the only camera that really make sense as the top of the line Mirrorless competitor to Sony Mirrorless line.

I did buy the R3 as my first mirrorless camera coming from the 1 DX Mark III. It is as you state a semi professional camera. As the step towards mirrorless is a financially big step in case you would like to replace all the camera's and lenses in one go, I decided to make a first step with the benefit of much improved autofocus capabilities. As I'm mainly a nature photographer that's highly relevant. So far I'm extremely happy with the Canon R3, although two aspects are disappointing. First of all the Multiple Exposure capabilities are clearly below expectations (JPEG only and limited picture selection) and second the low quality of the Eyecup (broke down quickly and limited replacement available).

Are the rankings based on units sold or by revenue in yen? It’s not clear. Thank you for the video. Also is there a list without “kits” in and only camera bodies?

Not surprised at all by these sales figures. The A74 is by far the best bang for your buck right now. I am equally not surprised by the X-H2s being absent from this list. It's been out just one month, and it's already in stock and widely available at most camera retailers. While it is a great camera for some, for the Fuji enthusiasts (myself included) it is not only a sharp departure from the classic dials, but also overpriced for what it is. Even the 3+ year old Sony A6400 outsold it by a wide margin. I fully expect Fuji to discount it by Xmas which will, once again, make the Fuji faithful that paid full price for it at launch feel a little silly - similar story to the X-H1.

Yeah, that makes sense. Also, was out doing hot environment work yesterday. Eight hours in 32 degree sunshine. Drift and road race. Killed three batteries. Couldn't kill what I put them in. The FX is a real bright spot.

I believe that the R3 is for Sports. R7 for wildlife. R5 for landscapes. These cameras do weddings well but basically people are buying the R6 because of the Hybrid capabilities and lower price tag. Those are for pics. On the video side more megapixels isn't needed. 8k is nice but most people watch on their cellphones. 6k or 8k oversampled video are nice but most people do not care about that either. So affordability and portability I believe what the ordinary filmmaker buys. Now since the pandemic is waning hopefully, people are going back to work and things are getting normal again, the interest in cameras shooting photos and videos are less and the market share is decreasing rapidly. Question are these world wide results or just inside Japan? Cheers!

Hi,
Do you expect a Sony a7S IV any time soon?
And what about it's specifications?

The R3 has been out almost a year. If I (as a Canon mirrorless user) were a pro in the market for a pro body, I'd get the R3 because who knows when the R1 will arrive. It looks more and more like 2024. Bird photographer Jan Wegener now uses the R3 as his main video camera, with the R5 his main stills body except in the steamy jungles of Queensland. 6.3K video is nothing to sneeze at.

As for the R6, I shoot 4K/24 with it and have no heat problems.

I’m curious to see what Canon and Sony come out with. I have an R7 and it doesn’t perform well in low light for weddings/portraits. However, it’s a amazing at outdoor and action photos!! I have a 90D and an RP with the intent of the RP of being a back up. The RP however, lacks all the great features from the R7 and I rarely use it now. I am willing to get the R5 and potentially even switch to the A7IV. What would you recommend?

After my Canon R6 kept overheating shooting video I sold it for the Sony A74 and couldn't be happier. At least Sony is making cents while making their cameras make sense

I disagree. This means nothing. If you go back and look at the world sales and US sales in the past, the Japanese sales are way off. The last time I looked, at that time Canon was leading the world in cameras, and sony leading in the US. You cannot even make predictions of the world using US sales or vice versa.

If Nikon Z9 was in top 10 then it would knock off the 10th place camera which is a Nikon, so the most Nikons that could be in the top 10 is 1!
