I lived in AJ for almost 30 years. I went to Four Peaks, AJJH, and AJHS. I remember watching Hank portray the Dutchman. OMG this story rattled my memories. I was also part of Troop 188 and we used to camp all over the Supers and the Goldfields. Tom Collenborn was our writer or Science teacher and the guy who wrote that one song hit, trying to remember his name. I remember the Thorpes teachers also.

I miss my town, even though it has changed so much. When my daughter grows up A.J. will be the place I'll come to live out my days until my last breath has left. I want to go camping back in the Supers and Goldfields very soon.
Please keep the great videos coming they are jarring good loving memories, that I thought were lost.

.... I enjoy the old photos you show of not only the rough terrain of the mountain, but especially photos of those who actually spent time in that country. Most look pretty salty and not to be messed all look very interesting. Thank you for the stories and the photos.

Apache land, what great memories I have from that place. Been there many times when I was young to my early twenties. Still think about the silver saddle I saw in a window and wonder what ever happened to it. When I was about 6 or 7 my neighbor worked security for Elvis when he filmed a movie there.
A suggestion for a short; the curse that was set upon Apache land, my Dad told me that a curse was put upon Apache land by the Apaches and that's why it burned down twice. Don't know if it's true but it brings back memories of my father. Thanks for sharing

I don’t know much about the dutchman or the Superstation mountains, but when I was a kid I lived on the Corralitos Ranch between Deming and Las Cruces. My father was Obsessed with a story about skeleton canyon in the very south eastern corner of Arizona. There is a lot of Gold ore. But no lost treasure.

I was there in 1971. Looked for 6 weeks and found plenty of snakes and cactus, but no gold. It was later told that these mines of which there were 6, were part of the Mexico excavations of the 1700's . A few finds were made over the years, but not the major one. Only the Dutchman knew.
