Throughout their long history, the sith embued many objects with the dark side, giving them dangerous properties. One such ancient artifqft was known as the murr tailsman. Whoever came into possession of this object couple turn anyone in the area into ferocious zombie like beasts known as rakghouls, all subserveant to the amulets owner. However, while granting great power, it was a double edged sword. The amulet contained the spirit of Karness Murr, one of the original dark Jedi who founded the sith order. Any user of the Murr Tailsman would eventually be completely corrupted by his spirit and subservient to him through the dark side.
