The Ultimate OhSnap Grip 2.0 + OhSnap Case Review - iPhone 13

Generally, one would think that a 2.0 version of product is going to be better than the 1.0 version. That’s not the case with the OhSnap Grip 2.0. Our grips lasted between 1-3 weeks. Sweet. The new OhSnap Case? The case that doesn’t “suck”? Requires a mini crowbar to install, deforms after one drop and costs more than 99% of the cases I’ve purchased for the iPhone 12’s and 13’s.

Once in a while, we review products that are so terrible that it makes us want to stop being reviewers. The perfect storm of expensive, dumb marketing and bad functionality.

I feel like my beliefs were crushed and caught for fraud. I loved the “intention” of OhSnap but I couldn’t continue with the lack of durability. Thank you both for saving me an extremely large amount of money 😅

Didn't pull any punches! Kinda hurt my feelings there... Anyways, just a few things we wanted to address! First off, we're aware of the band durability issue and we're working to improve it! - it doesn't affect everyone but *we send free replacements to everyone who experiences it.* Regarding the case, it actually does come with a ring installed, it's just black! You can see it at 3:19. The case is also designed to feel like your phone (metal construction), and unfortunately that means it will get damaged like it as well. It still protects your phone, just the tradeoffs of an aluminum case! Lastly, Snapcharge actually does charge at 15 watts - *all iPhones just throttle Non-Apple wireless chargers down to 7.5W*, if you tested with an Android you would see 15W :)

It depends on how you use it I guess. I've been using oh snap for over a year and finally upgraded to the 2.0. I love it and would still continue to use it. I know it sucks you can't just take it off and use other magsafe stuff. But I don't use anything else besides the wallet. The wallet sticks to the oh snap but it does swing around. But that's not a big deal because the phone is in my pocket or laying on the table. If you want to be able to take it off and use other magsafe stuff, stick with the popsocket.

I love you guys. All the other "reviewers" just say nice/neutral things, so they can keep in the good books of manufacturers. Y'all have saved me so much money!

Really guys thank you for all you do, reviews like yours keep people like me from blowing money on useless junk. And I was considering this for my iphone11 since they have MagSafe cases now. You guys rock.

I was a long OhSnap Grip customer since 2020, my first purchase was for my Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. The 1.0 grip works well, until it snapped in less than 6 months. Of course I complained and they sent me a replacement. I was amazed how long the replacement lasted. Then I upgraded to S22 Ultra in July of 2022. And of course, that OhSnap Grip replacement impressed me so well that got me sold to their revolution to the OhSnap 2.0, boy I was OUT for disappointment. I've had 2.0 for 1 week before the band snapped. Of course, they apologized and sent me a new one (covered under warranty), then the replacement that I got, 3 weeks later, the band is on its last stretch. In just less than a month, both the orig 2.0 order and its replacement sucked so bad? It's a normal use like its predecessor. I don't go around and jabbing it with scissors like a crazy person. Like, seriously??? I'm in SERIOUS disappointment. What am I supposed to do? Request for another warranty replacement? I'm sure that ship had sailed when I receive the replacement after a week of use. I'm done. I really am done. The 2.0 just lost me as a customer. Will never go back again.

I feel like this is a bit over the top. I had the 1.0 and agree it wasn’t great. The 2.0 is so much better. I’ve had mine since release and haven’t even once thought it was going to break. I don’t know what you guys did to yours but this feels incredibly biased.

Edit: They also offer free replacements inside of 1 year.

3:19 but they say on instructions that the case comes with a preinstalled (black) ring, so you don't need to install another (silver) ring...

I'm very disappointed with the v2 grip. First one I got, the band broke after a month of normal use. The second replacement grip they sent me also just broke after barely a month of normal use. The first edition of the grips was fantastic and durable, v2 has some better design but the durability makes it unusable.

Thankfully, I never had a problem with the elastic band. My problem was with the thing it was attached to. That part cracked and could slide off the elastic band. They sent me a replacement, but the magnets being so weak on the 2.0 just soured me on the whole product

Review seems a bit harsh. Wife and I have been using the 2.0 on our phones for over a month now without any issues. We both carry two phones and pop sockets are too bulky

I love that in their advertisements they say the magnets aren’t strong enough in the iPhone, and that’s why you have to use an adhesive. All that tells me is their magnets aren’t good enough.

You don’t actually need to put the steel ring on the ohsnap case. The grip already sticks to it as is and quite strongly.

Will you be reviewing the 3.0 version? On paper it seems perfect but was hoping you’d review it 🙏🏼

I laughed so hard at the end when you pulled the buttons off “it’s taped on!” 😂😂😂

This isn’t for the ohsnap grip, but the SnapCar mount and wireless charger. I had no idea I needed the grip and had to order it after. Doesn’t look like it would need that for the car mount, and that the metal ring should have been sufficient and included. It was like pulling teeth trying to get an answer for that and there’s no customer service number….so 24 hours twice for two simple questions then pay for shipping for additional items was a bit aggravating.

Anyway, it has charged well and it’s the best so far that I could find for what it does. I didn’t want a vent or window mount, and the base is small enough to fit in a cramped space with a surface sufficient for mounting. One problem is the ‘strong’ tape may come off your dash if it gets hot in the car, even without the phone on it. I’m in cooler WA state and this happened twice so I can’t imagine hotter regions. I had to use the back up tape/pad and the mount fell off again. Just found it on the floor after a day of 75-80 degree temps. However, luckily it was the pad to mount side (the tape stayed on the dash) so I just used super glue. So far so good and I’m glad i went through 2 weeks of hassle since it’s worth it, but service (even though nice) and this mount issue has a lot to be desired. The charger does work fine with the grip on. I guess I can take the grip cover off (even though I was told I needed it) but it’s fine on there, and I let the dealership where I got my car aware of the product. I still believe in it regardless of these issues .

There's a new grip from ohsnap called snap 3 pro. Please review this when it comes out.
