Interested in starting your own classical school? Think that private education based in foundations of truth, goodness and beauty is the way to go? The Memoria Press Curriculum is more than just learning material, it is the blueprint by which we have laid the foundation for classical schools across the country. Many of our trademark schools start out as homeschool co-ops that get started with little more than a faithful few who dare to try and the curriculum that equips them to succeed.

How does getting started today sound to you?

Thank you for sharing this conversation. I am praying about starting a class. I am one of the empty nest homeschool mom/teachers u spoke of today. My last graduate was in 2020, I even have experience with one child graduating HS with 84 college credits. I really would like to share my experience but wasn't sure how, where, or when to move forward. Much prayer and seeking guidance. Your conversation was inspiring. Thank you 🙏

Wow, great explanation on the curriculum, watching from South Africa with hopes of starting a school in the future.

Interesting.

We almost had a cottage school open but they didn’t seem to be able to pull off numbers to make it worth it.

I wish there could be an episode dedicated to how to use MP in a co-op or small multi-age group. Schools aren’t possible for most people to start.

Loved this episode! The wisdom shared was spot on👌🏻 One thing I learned from starting the “fire marshall” school is it’s hard to start a school, but also not that hard!😅 Our little school had such a crazy start and was far from perfect, but it was the solid curriculum and lesson plan that gave my teachers and me confidence that we could actually start a school.
If you can find the building and a solid partner, you will be well on your way to a strong first year.

Hi there. Another great episode would be how to “convert” a school. I currently know of a small, rural diocesan Catholic school who wants to convert to a classical curriculum.

Curriculum is hard. It’s the most time consuming part.

We have a small school. It is a cottage school. We are 0-12. We have 4 dedicated people who are passionate. We are trying to slow the growth because trying to accommodate everyone. We can’t hire anyone because there isn’t any money. Currently it is passionate people who want a discount. We are all homeschool mom run.
We are trying to figure all these things out.
We need teachers but we don’t know how to find them… because we can’t pay them yet.

I would love to start a school, but being an active duty military family means we are never anywhere long enough. 😩

I have heard it mentioned in past podcasts that curriculum should be standardized, but I wonder to what degree? Does this mean that a seventh grade student could theoretically walk into any school's literature class and expect to be in the same chapter discussing the same concepts?

Do you have any videos/advice on where to actually start from a financial stance? Grants or fundraising steps?
I have a vision and a dream in my heart for a ‘one room school house’ model with Christian values. I have the land, a partner who is all in as well but not an actual building. It’s overwhelming to figure out where to literally start!

Honestly, we’ve got to change the way we teach our children. There’s nothing educational happening in our public schools today. There’s no life skills, no skills on how to grow food, how to take care of yourself, how to survive and strive. What happened to arts, sciences, personal growth, compassion? Why are we putting children behind the desk during the day? There’s nothing happening that I find educational in our public schools school today.
