Kasia, I am a professional photographer who has been using capture one for years and I want to thank you for your excellent videos, the best there is on networks. Although you still don't have many subscribers, I'm sure your work will pay off over time. Thank you very much and congratulations.

I took your course on Portrait Editing in Photoshop via Pluralsight some years ago. It was truly great and I learned a lot of things about not only editing, but how to make an effective image, as well. Do you still use Photoshop a lot or is Capture One your primary tool? While C1, Lightroom, etc. are getting much better at masking, I still think that Photoshop is far superior in this respect.

I love short videos like this, Kasia, because they give me more time to climb onto my soapbox and start another rant.

One of my favorites, or rather one of C1's most bothersome bugs is, well . . . I was taught to always 'burn the edges' and I still do that, despite having spent a fortune on lenses that do not vignette. Most of us, 90% of the time, will choose 'Elliptic on crop', I imagine, but if you're not VIGILANT, C1 will save or revert that to 'Circular on crop' at some point. This happens to me again and again, albeit inconsistently, and is REALLY annoying. Nor can I complain to C1 Support about this any longer because it appears that they've already blocked me. So, everyone, keep a sharp lookout for that (and let C1 know before they block you too)!

I LOVE the Radial Gradient masks. In fact they tend to be present in all my edits, one of the first steps in my workflow, and I spend a lot of time squeezing, squashing and spreading those circles until I'm satisfied; it's fun. They're useful for other adjustments besides luminosity as well, as pointed out, a wee bit of negative clarity surrounding the main subject, for example (even though there I ALSO spent a fortune on glass that supposedly does not suffer from sharpness falloff. ;).

P.S. Kasia, I often wonder what kind of bad karma you created to gain a subscriber like me. Were we married in another life? No! I'll bet you were my mother-in-law!

Hi and thanks for sharing your knowledge. I have capture One 20 and i dont understande Why is it that when I upload photos from my computer to my mobile phone to post on social media they are always darker? thank you very much

Recently my preferred method to add vignetting has been to use the radial gradient mask, but instead of adjusting the exposure or brightness sliders, I lower the whites on the levels tool (pull the top right marker towards the left). In my opinion it creates a more subtle and often more pleasing result. I generally don't want to crush the blacks, which is sometimes hard to avoid when using the exposure slider.

Where are you going when you don't publish videos anymore?

You can also just brush in a burn mask in the areas you want to darken around the edges.

By the way, Kasia, for the last half dozen videos or so, you keep mentioning your free master class. Yes, it's great and I'm sure that we've all watched it now. I know that I have, like a dummy, at least as many times as you've suggested it, --but I can't handle another viewing.

Yup, definitely some bad karma goin' on here.
