Not Sure I'd Stay Here Again 🤢 | MGM Grand Las Vegas Tour

Hey y'all, it's Staci, and this is a tour of the MGM Grand Las Vegas. We stayed in a King Suite with a Strip View at MGM Grand Las Vegas with someone else's garbage and ball of hair. I want to show you a full resort tour to help you decide if staying at the MGM Grand should be on or off your list.

While I did love that the MGM Grand is...GRAND...and there is so much to do, see, eat, and play here, we didn't love that our room looked like it came pre-lived in and dirty. For the prices MGM might charge for a night stay, I am not sure the room lived up to the hype. That said, we did enjoy the options, and our meals at Crush and Nellie's southern Kitchen were perfection. The pool time and lazy river gave us some well-deserved pool play time, but the resort seemed to be a little over-priced, even for Las Vegas. I am not sure if we will stay here again, but maybe we will give it another shot in the future.

We stayed there last May (2022) and had the same results with filthy rooms. I paid for 3 rooms since we were treating our kids and their significant others on the trip. Two rooms were dirty, one was filthy, complete with gum on the ceiling, trash in the can and around it, trash under the desk and even puke residue on the floor around the toilet. Every room was super dusty and all the furnishings were worn and very dated. It honestly felt like we were staying at something less than a Motel 6, and not a Mega-Resort, with more hotel rooms in a single building than any other property in the world.

We were there for 4 nights, and on night 2, the water was turned off from about 11pm until 5am due to a leak they said. (No compensation of any kind for the inconvenience of having to schlep down to the casino to use the toilet in the middle of the night.)
Lots of other issues were encountered with this property during our stay. (Too many to list out here)

I spent just over $5k at this property (But $1200 of that was for 8 tickets to the David Copperfield show) during our stay (not counting my gambling) and could not even get a comped late checkout for just one of the three rooms, so we could freshen up before heading to the airport at 3pm. (They wanted %50 for this, to put it in perspective) - My gambling was about $4k in this property, so it should have been enough to get a $50 comp on the back-end. (Mysteriously, no casino host was ever available to return my messages while I was there either)

Overall, about 10% of the staff were friendly, and the other 90% seemed to resent that there were guests on the property, and they clearly displayed the attitude that they did not want to be there.

I complained a couple of times during the stay, as well as speaking to the desk manager at checkout, but to no avail. I also sent emails to the marketing and promotions team, as well as the property operations manager and the MGM corporate office. (I never received a single response from any of the three.)

We decided we will never stay at this property again due to the poor overall quality of the stay. We would only go back to the MGM Grand for a show or event, but never as a guest.

We are going back to Vegas this summer, and we will be staying at Park MGM for 4 nights (our 1st time at this one), then moving to the Bellagio for 4 nights (all 8 nights comped).

The only positive from that trip, was MGM now sends me offers to their Biloxi property, the Beau Rivage, which is a downgraded Bellagio type casino. The offers include airfare for two, 4 nights hotel, and $175 in resort credits. We have gone twice so far and enjoyed it both times. The offer included all this for just $50 per person, all taxes and fees included.

The only other MGM property I have stayed at besides the MGM Grand was the Bellagio. Service and conditions there have usually been good (Though drink service gets really slow on weekend nights)

For top-notch service though, you just cannot beat the Wynn. Even their low-end rooms are good there. (a few years back, I got 3 nights comped in one of their suites. Outstanding accommodations on that trip. Just the bathroom was bigger than most hotel rooms on the strip. I guess my gambling action was not enough though, since I have never received another one of those comps. I just get the standard room comp there now)

Oh man, that’s unacceptable!! We recently stayed at the Embassy Suites, granted it’s not right on the Strip, but a fantastic place to stay if you want a spacious clean suite which we enjoyed thoroughly at the end of our Great Sequoia & Grand Canyon vacation.
