Was Genshin's Spiral Abyss Better Than Honkai: Star Rail's?

In the beginning, Genshin's SA was mainly about skill and having good enough units with decently synergized teams. Nowadays, its a DPS check and like 30 seconds of each rounded in gated behind a boss's invincibility period which ups how annoying it is. Some skill is needed but if you're a whale or have an older account, it's just something to do every couple of weeks and then forget about.

Honkai is 100X better just for the simple fact that there are no ENEMIES THAT HIDE THEMSELVES FOR MOST OF THE FIGHT

its still such a damage check in Genshin, I have a very decent teams in Genshin, but cant get last 3 stars, its always 2 stars on the last floor on each stage or even less

Tbh, it's almost all the same. But as he said, in Genshin you can work around it by dodging or attack more frequently. There's certain level of DPS check however, in both games. If you're invested enough then you'll ended up with abyss. 'Easy' for those who're invested and 'hard' for those who aren't invested enough. Oh and also, the rewards is all the same. It's just Genshin separate it into 9 parts and HSR 10 parts.

well theres not much you can do on a turn based game other than make your units strong then deal with it. The good thing about genshin is that the combat involves reaction which allows you to be creative on how you'll beat the enemies on a specific period of time. I kinda miss elemental reactions here since everything feels like raw damage. The only boost you can get is through toughness breaks and DoT. If you're fighting an enemy without the correct weakness type, well goodluck

Happy with star rail finally building characters for damage check rather than just catching balloons and photography

Lol it's more or less the same. The enemies in Genshin just like to waste your goddamn time by hiding or moving away most of the time. They're both artificially difficult because of stat checks

With the design and structure of how HSR is, the DPS check might become much stricter compared to Genshin's in the future when there is more enemy variety. But what HSR has better that Genshin is that the game kinda encourages you to try the Abyss out. The entrance to it has a little quest with a HSR version of Tali'Zorah nar Rayya, there are not just currency and resource rewards but also purchasable lightcones, it's less frustrating since you either have your strat or your stats to blame instead of skill issue, the structure is divided differently so you don't lose so much progress when failing or needing/wanting to restart.

"are my stats high enough to beat it now" bruh dont act like genshin doesnt have the same curve when you start the game. Maybe it was somehow different when the game first came out, but as someone who started like 5 months into genshin beating out, it took me a few months to even clear the base floors of abyss (1-8) while being bottlenecked at different levels many times. I 45 starred the base floors of this game like 2, 5 weeks into it being out as f2p

This is just how turn-based games work. But let's not act like there's no strategy involved in team building either. Of course, in a game like genshin, you can use your skill to get past content. And of course, in a game like Star Rail that is turn-based, you will be more limited in your options. We are also extremely underdeveloped in star rail and have very limited options to build 2 teams. Plus limited resources.

Players who disagree to this have never seen yet high lvl 190+ SPD & High Res enemies especially bosses. (Ex. Lvl 90 Cocolia). Theres even 270+Spd.

In Genshin, your skill to dodge which is free is a major part of your defense so you mostly grind on just offensive stats.

In HSR, ofc you cant dodge so you need to min max your SPD etc. aside from the usual offensive crit stats etc. Which makes it harder.

Our gigabrain for battle strats is not enough, you need to be much more luckier in your relic stats atleast.

At the very least i want HSR events to have more resource rewards than genshin to lessen the pain of grinding requirement per character.

biggest problem with spiral abyss is that they never did anything with it. No 4 star characters challenges.. No deeper floors to see the limit of your characters/account. No nothing. Just repeat of similar floors you beat years ago.

I don't really get the comparison? Genshin and Star Rail are fundamentally different games. In Genshin, if you're underleveled, you can still clear anything that isn't Spiral Abyss because you can dodge attacks, hit and run, and shield whenever you want.. Honkai is a turn based RPG and you're gonna get hit; meaning if you're underleveled and aren't prepared, you're fucked. If you don't have a shielder, healer or good DPS, you're fucked. That's how turn based RPGs are. Try playing Persona or SMT3 without buffs/debuffs, being underleveled, and having a sub optimal team. It won't be a fun time. And can we please not act like Genshin doesn't have damage checks? Like please, if you don't got the damage, you're not beating something like 3 Maguu Kenkis on one side, and a Wenut (that hides for most of the fight) on the other on time.

Short: yes all need upgrades eventually or we cant clear it.
early abyss with low stamina and freeze is tough. Now, its mostly dps race for abyss, so losing a star or two on 12 wont really hurt.
For star rail simulation, u can get by w lv40 characters with right path to exploit. But for spesifically fragmented and later memory of chaos, its pure your own teams's traces, relics, and team comp vs time limit.

the damage check depends on which abyss tho

The problem is in Genshin's early stages, a lot of people could not complete the non-weekly version of Spiral Abyss for a long time, even if you strategized well because better artifacts and progress was needed. People in their first banner on Honkai are reaching the weekly abyss/memories already, and even though they might not manage to get stars for Jades, they are at least getting the weekly mats provided if they complete some of the stages. I have found as well if you strategize well with team compositions and elements, you can get the extra stars for the jades as well.

i feel early genshin had a bit of a skill check, but now it's just bs mechanics to artificially make abyss harder. examples: bosses that are invulnerable for like 90% of the fight, enemies that require certain reactions like dendro stuff to make the fight easier to make u wanna pull for dendro characters, spongy enemies, etc. Like these mechanics is why i kinda just gave up on genshin cause even though i love combat it just annoyed me that they did stuff that restricted you from playing rather than being able to explore the perfect combos mixing it with perfect dodges and so on. Like even in the combat events we get, to get higher points, you get debuffed like her cd which like skills is the main part of many character kits so why restrict that aspect.

idk how people felt about corrosion but i fricken loved it. Not only did it make healers have a place in the "meta" but it made u dodge more rather than the meta of dps + shields

HSR, i feel the problem is because it is turn based, strategy will only go as far as team composition and gear grinding. Like besides that not much else.

This is true for the most part but I still prefer Memory of Chaos than Spiral Abyss because of the challenge it brings. I just hope it they do something fun with it unlike the Spiral Abyss in Genshin where it's the same stuff over and over again.
