I remember this happened a bunch of times between me and another guy at philosophy lessons. Since it's philosophy, there is no absolute truth and there are many schools of thought. However, the place never "blew" lmao. We both actually really enjoyed debating with each other (as we differed in a lot of stuff), and the teacher enjoyed listening too. Most of the times we didn't end up agreeing 100%, but we did learn from each other, had no problem recognising when the other made a good point/observation, and all around had a really good time.
I wish this kind of constructive interaction between not only "smart kids" but just all students in general was more common instead of the constant competition just for the sake of being right. It really is beautiful and those debates with the guys are one of my fondest memories from high-school.

Ok. Story time.

So I was 12, chilling in maths class and learning about factors and multiples. I was a “smart kid”. So when the teacher asked if 4 was a factor of 156, the other smart kid, (who was like 5 times smarter than me) said it wasn’t. But I saw exactly what it was. I put my hand up and said the he was wrong. The whole class stared at me. I said that 4 was a factor of 156 because 4x10=40 and the remainder 16 could be divided by 4. AND that 100 divided by 4 = 25. So it was indeed a factor. The smart kid looked at me, and since we had a system of giving candy to the kids who were good, he looked the teacher in the face and said “they deserve a skittle.” That was a gesture from one smart kid to another :)

As a former ‘smart kid’ I had this happen a lot. Once I had a crush on the other ‘smart kid’ and when we had arguments I properly argued because everyone shipped us and I wanted to prove them wrong but it showed it more lol

As a child this happened to me, so me and another guy were considered the smart kids. And once another guy decided to ask us a question in math, but it was about something we hadn’t learned yet. We both had different answers, and we weren’t hanging together it was just that kid going back and forth saying what the other answered. So we were arguing, and the other guy was just stuck in between, delivering the messages. I’m friends with both now, but still funny to think about. [ I was the one who was right U-U ( I kinda had an advantage since my dad works is a mathematician tho so yeah )]

As an former "smart kid" this has happened to me a lot lol, there were debates even, It was actually really fun for me the person who I argued with the most in those classes about answers became my best friend after few years 😂
