Thank you for the tips, there are some very useful things here that I don’t think would immediately occur to people! My personal tip from having worked in an office environment in the public sector would be not to get involved in any office gossip or drama. A reputation as a gossip can make work with others difficult, and it simply is a poor way to handle disagreements in a professional setting. If there is a dispute, talk to HR or even your union representative if applicable depending on the nature of the problem, they are there for a reason.

I'd like to add, because I had this happen to me once. Some places have a refrigerator for the employees, but in my case it was for students to put our lunch or dinner in and one day someone stole part of my lunch! I've been blessed with a boyfriend who always packed my lunch and he always packed enough for ten people due to my food allergies and Type 1 diabetes, so I'd have something to choose from, but what upset me was that the person didn't ask. I'm not going to let anyone go hungry, so I would have been glad to share. I'm not saying that everyone does this, but please, if you're hungry and didn't bring anything, or need to borrow something, etc... just ask, because we've all been there, but you're right, leaving your stuff unlocked isn't safe.

I can really identify with your video! One of my former co-workers always had her face stuck in her phone checking updates to Facebook. If that wasn't bad enough she would waste my time by reading the posts to me! I felt like I was back in high school rather than a professional environment.

Great video. Excellent tips. One of my pet peeves is when people place empty (or close to empty) coffee pots on a hot warming plate and it burns! It almost smells as bad as microwaved fish!!! LOL - have a great week!

I think I hurt my coworker’s feelings when i asked her to stop singing. She would sing every day, bc it helped her concentrate. However it was very distracting to me.

I think I also upset her when I kept reminding her to clean up the coke she spilled on the copier and fridge. She said she was busy and would do it the following day. Then she said she is not dirty, which I affirmed that I know she is not bc she keeps her desk tidy. However, I didn’t understand why we had to live with the mess all day.

Oh deal with each of these infractions every day I go to work. Without getting too specific, I am in the Health Care profession. These things of so unbecoming of people in my profession. One person always, and I mean always leans over my dish when I am eating and ask "what you eating ." Once she was drinking something, and it apparently did not smell appealing, she stuck the bottle near my face and asked me to smell it. There are those who are constantly "swiping " on their phones. They are more interested in what's going on on the Internet than the job they are being paid to do. Personally, I turn my phone off before entering the building where I work.
Office/Work place etiquette is a subject you can certainly continue speaking on.
