Tο 2016 το Μουσείο Κυκλαδικής Τέχνης φιλοξένησε την έκθεση «Ai Weiwei at Cycladic», την πρώτη παρουσίαση έργων του καλλιτέχνη στην Ελλάδα, καθώς και για τη μοναδική έκθεσή του που φιλοξενήθηκε σε αρχαιολογικό μουσείο παγκοσμίως μέχρι σήμερα.
Το Μουσείο προσκάλεσε τον Ai Weiwei να παρουσιάσει μια σειρά έργων που αναδεικνύουν την καλλιτεχνική του προσέγγιση, την έμφαση του έργου του στην ιστορία και την πολιτισμική κληρονομιά, καθώς και την κριτική του ματιά στα σύγχρονα πολιτικά και κοινωνικά ζητήματα. Τα 25 έργα του Ai Weiwei που παρουσιάστηκαν στην έκθεση περιελάμβαναν ορισμένες από τις πιο γνωστές του δημιουργίες –όπως τo Grapes (2011), το Divina Proportione (2012), το Mask (2011) και το Cao (2014)–, καθώς και ένα νέο έργο, την Ιστάμενη Φιγούρα (2016), εμπνευσμένο από τη συλλογή του μουσείου.
Το video αποτελεί μία καταγραφή της πρώτης ατομικής έκθεσης του εννοιολογικού καλλιτέχνη Ai Wei Wei στο Μουσείο Κυκλαδικής Τέχνης στην Αθήνα από τον σκηνοθέτη Martin Garde Abildgaard για το NOWNESS.

In 2016 the Museum of Cycladic Art hosted the exhibition "Ai Wei Wei at Cycladic", the artist’s first exhibition in Greece and in an archaeological museum worlwide. The exhibition introduced Ai’s practice to the Greek audience through some of his most canonical works and highlights his most recent activities from the past months that he had spent in Greece documenting the refugee crisis.
The artist's 25 works on display included some of his iconic pieces like Divina Proportione (2012), Mask (2011), Cao (2014), Grapes (2011), as well as a new artwork created especially for the show and inspired by the Museum's permanent collection, called Standing Figure (2016).
The video is documenting conceptual artist Ai Weiwei’s first major exhibition in Greece at the Museum of Cycladic Art, Athens and is a film by director Martin Garde Abildgaard for NOWNESS.
