Yep. Tues thru Thursday this week restaurants in this area were seriously on the ball. Every place I walked into had my order ready, including McDonalds and Sonic. Then we got shopping trips galore which were only 3-4 items for $16 and $23 and a stones throw from the store. Crazy week. We never stay out past our goal because there’s other dashers that need to hit their goals, but Tuesday, we hit our goal of $150 2 hours in. Had a really long stacked trip in there with an empty return.

Folks are starting to think a little. They realize they live 11 miles away from any delivery zones, they compute the miles round trip, and pay slightly less.

For me, I won’t accept anything less than .62 cents per mile. That’s what the federal government pays us for travel miles, and they pay the least they can legally get away with paying anyone for a round trip. To me, this is federal minimum wage travel miles.

Notice, I said round trip. I freaking mean that. Dollar per mile means something in big cities, but it’s more like. $.62 cents here simply because the area is so spread out over 40 miles. If you aren’t paying attention, you’ll wind up 50-60 miles from your starting point because folks order from any hot spot town you might be in. We wound up 65 miles out with an empty return in our first week. Ever since then, we’ve been paying attention to exactly which city our orders are going to.

It’s thanksgiving week, for some, this will be an incredible week right into next weekend. For us, we’re looking forward to the down time. We have two university towns on either side of our town with our town playing service industry central. The kids have gone home for Thanksgiving, and things ran dry today. Our typical $150-200 days turned into a $75 day. Plus the county Mounties had it out for me today… two 4’11 chihuahua female officers nippin at my heels trying to pee on my tires or something. All day… there they were. One delivery after the next. Apparently there was a drug bust and they broke off for a few hours… not like I was going anywhere… I just sat there waiting on the ding ding gods to make sweet music on my cell phone.

Anyone that does this long enough will have some hours like that. It’s not a big deal. One time I did $150 in just under two hours. How? $6 peak pay during a snow storm and luck of the draw on customers that were appreciative with fat tips.

I did it in 1hr 100$ plus its was a morning when shop and deliver was still new with DD they are paying like crazy 32$ for 1-2 items and customer keeps ordering milk in the morning it only lasted for few weeks though then they lower the base pay.

But I have made $100 just going to somebody's house took me 15 minutes just to change the capacitor on their air conditioner I also do air conditioning on the side I don't do it as much anymore since I've gotten older but I do it for friends and stuff like that other customers I've had in the past that call me

It market dependent I. Glad you had a good hour but not every market is possible to do that
