Zooming in and out between different levels of forest management – this conference aimed to provide a platform to discuss emerging scenarios and issues facing the forestry sector in India.
Panellists in the talk show agreed that resilience-building of forests is key to shaping India’s vision for its forests. Major roadblocks identified by the speakers included lack of institutional coordination and cross-engagement as well as insufficient knowledge creation and exchange. Solutions and encouraging examples of resolving these challenges included emphasis on effectively administered landscape approaches that ensured effective community participation, while also incentivising the conservation and sustainable use of forests by economic actors, like ecosystem service valuation.
